Worked good up until
"adb shell mount -o remount,rw /system"
then says "Operation not permitted"

And I didn't proceed because I assume this is a crucial step....

Will this tool work on 3rd Generation tablets?

Hi All,

I am wondering if this tool works with the 'Kindle Fire HD (3rd Generation)'? Whilst I have successfully installed drivers, and ADB is setup (including being added to the PATH variable in Windows 10) I am unable to root using this tool. Below is a screen shot of where the process is getting stuck -

Any advice here will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Hung up on Step 2 - 3

Hello All,

I'm new to rooting but very computer friendly. I keep getting hung up on steps 2-3 with the alerts as follows:

Step 2 - Exploiting...
/system/bin/sh: can't create /data/local.prop: permission denied

Step 3 - Checking for access...
The system cannot find the file specified

anyone have the same issue or can shed some light on what file it is looking for? Thank you!

After days trying to root my fire hd 7 (2012) on 7.5.1

I simply downloaded the Windows version of https://kingroot.net and it rooted in a few mins

Nothing happens for me whatsoever after the Daemon starts. 4th gen Fire HD 7.

Lots of peeps not reading carefully enough.

This thread is about 7" Kindle Fire HD, that's seven inch Kindle HD, not kindle HD7.

If you don't have a seven inch, you won't be able to root ;)

I rooted 7.4.9. Since then, I have no experience with any later versions. If you have a fastboot cable, you "should" be able to get back to normal if it doesn't work, but there are no guarantees. I would search around a bit on Google for 7.5.1 and compatibility.

Goo
Code:
d luck![/QUOTE]

$ adb shell rm /data/local.prop
rm failed for /data/local.prop, No such file or directory
$ adb shell "echo ro.kernel.qemu=1 > /data/local.prop"
/system/bin/sh: cannot create /data/local.prop: Permission denied

$ adb shell ls -l /
drwxr-xr-x root     root              2018-09-13 18:31 acct
drwxrwx--- system cache 2018-09-13 05:15 cache
dr-x------ root     root              2018-09-13 18:31 config
lrwxrwxrwx root     root              2018-09-13 18:31 d -> /sys/kernel/debug
drwxrwx--x system   system            2018-08-30 16:44 data
-rw-r--r-- root     root           89 1970-01-01 00:00 default.prop

Looks like they've closed the trap door.

Apparently this no longer works. The qemu exploit was fixed.

Since this thread is a sticky, there should be a BIG RED LETTER WARNING at the top of the original post to save folks wasting time reading and learning loads of useless , out of date stuff.
