Thanks to the developers!
Can someone tell me the password for ssh or where I can set this password?
Thanks in regard

The default user for ssh/telnet is root (without a password).

Right now this cannot be changed, since the system in on a read-only squashfs partition. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I read somewhere this might change in the future.

The 'curl' binary is included, so you could use that. I once wrote a script around curl to 'click' a web nag box that our corporate firewall periodically generated.

Unfortunately no not as it is...The Drivers for the Ethernet dongles needed are not included in the ROM.
It is possible perhaps to make it work but it really is something Google should make happen because the CCast desperately needs the ability to support Wired connection in general.

Hi Guys,

Just rooted 2 chromecasts
So now the "because I can" part is done, I will do some reading regarding the new possibilities

Two quick questions though:

1. I see on the webpage from my chromecast Build version 17977.001 (24/7/2014)
This is another date then stated in the OP, I ran the force update, but according to the log I have the latest....
Date mismatch or am I missing something?

2. I do not see anywhere the Eureka logo (booting / onscreen), that is ok?

Tnx

Will this allow me to remove limitations like internet access and set it up in an wifi direct sort of mode rather than requiring a wireless network?

Of the two, removing the internet access limitation is by far the more desirable of the two but it would also be nice if I didn't need a router.

Today, instead of the slideshow when Chromecast is idle I am getting a message on screen that reads:

Quote:

Oops.

We are having issues updating your Chromecast to the latest version.
Some features may not work. Visit chromecast.com/update to get help.

I am running the most recent versions of Googlecast and Eureka ROM. I tried rebooting Chromecast but the message came back again. Eureka web panel status still accessible and says ROM is "Up to Date". Casting still works fine.

Strange, I have yet to see this message. Can you send a screenshot?

EDIT: As for google's latest OTA, I will do some testing with it this weekend. With some of the warnings on G+ about it, Here and Here, I am kind of worried about pushing this out to the masses. I will keep everyone updated on what we decide to do about this one.

Thumbs up WPA supplicant
First, thanks for the hard work

I would like to ask if it is possible to use the WPA supplicant with the Eureka ROM. Currently, Chromecast does not support WPA enterprise (802.1x). However, if the device is rooted and considering that it is based on Linux, I was wondering if it would be possible to install WPA supplicant and configure the corresponding files so we can use 802.1x

I have a Chromecast, but it is not and it can not rooted So any comments / experiences are greatly appreciated
