Now works perfectly!

I want to confirm that newest version finally works correctly on my HTC Touch HD with Barebone ROM.

Once again thanks for that great app!

I use V1.05 and i got the "" warning.

It's the official HTC 6.5 upgrade ROM (greek version).

Not sure if there's any hope for a Sprint CDMA Touch Diamond

iwfratz,

I keep getting the previously reported error when launching WiMoSpeed,

"A native exception has occurred in WiMoSpeed..."

Selecting details adds:

ExceptionCode: 0xdfff0123
ExceptionAddress: 0x03fa9018
Faulting module: coredll.dll
Offset: 0x00054018

at MainForm.WMS_Init()
at MainForm..ctor()
at MainForm.Main(String[] args)

Because I'm obsessive/compulsive I've tried reinstalling CF 3.5, I've tried WM 6.1, 6.5, and 6.5.5. I even tried another touch diamond with the same specs.

This version of the Diamond has a few peculiarities such as:

  1. Cpu is a Qualcomm 7501A
  2. The radio version is CDMA
  3. No removable SD card, 4Gb "internal storage" instead
Could any of these cause the error?

I haven't flashed a different radio, but this shouldn't cause a startup error should it?

Maybe it's just not meant to be, if it can be fixed great, if not thanks for trying.

I have a T-Mobile branded Touch Pro2 and it's giving me both errors (Radio and OEMXIP).

ROM Version: 1.20.531.4 (51986) WWE

Radio Version: 3.45.25.14

I do not have a link to my rom presently, I'll look around and see if someone ripped it.

been a while since I've last been here, found my TP2's rom and radio as well.

Rom:

Radio:

@iwfratz, if I install WiMoSpeed on storage card, do I need to reinstall cab file if I load a new rom? I haven't been reinstalling and every thing seems to work fine. I back up and reapply the Start Menu and Start Up links but I was afraid something might get installed in Windows directory at initial install that wouldn't be there after hard reset.

Thanks.

Didn't download 1.06 yet, but 1.05 seems to work great with Energy roms, both Jan.30 builds and latest Mar.XX builds. The March builds are pretty awesome BTW.

No, there is no need to reinstall as it is a program that sets the speed and then finishes. If you want, you can just save the shortcuts created after the install and copy them back to the start up programs folder after your hard reset.

I have a question.

Is there a way to check if the program really works ? I can set up my Diamond 2 to 710, but with the energy roms i could see improvement in some programs. Now with my current rom i am not so sure. Can someone suggests a software or a benchmark to test the overclock ?

This software is a benediction !!

And, it works, here some results from SKTool benchmark :

HTC Blackstone with Topix 3.1 ROM

Origin@528MHz :

Integer 330.55
Float 7.58
RAM 566
Bitmaps 813
Storage ppl (write)1766
Storage ppl (read) 5417

Overclock@652.8MHz

Integer 410.221
Float 9.304
RAM 672
Bitmaps 946
Storage ppl (write)1899
Storage ppl (read) 5840

Integer : +24.1%
Float : +22,7%
RAM : +18.7%
Bitmaps : +16.4%
OC doesn't affect Storage I guess.

So, for an Overcloack of 23.6% we have about 20% better on the 4 first tests, and 23,4% better on the integer and float tests !

    CAUTION !!!
    - USE THIS TOOL AT YOUR OWN RISK !!
    - Overclocking your cpu may damage your device.
    - Before autostarting the app be sure that your device will not hang.
    - backup is always recommended !!

    DESCRIPTION :
WiMoSpeed lets you change the CPU-speed. In opposite to other tools, even to the predecessor OverClockTool (OCT), it manipulates the values WM uses for clock control. So it works reliable on battery and AC without any scripting or active components.

    USAGE :
    - WiMoSpeed needs .NET CF 3.5
    - Download and install the CAB
    - Start WiMoSpeed.exe. If it reports that it cannot identify your ROM: read LIMITATIONS/PROBLEMS
    - Select Speed
    - Set Speed
    - Exit WiMoSpeed.exe
    - Your device still runs with speed you set

Auto start WiMoSpeed to desired speed:
Note: one advantage to installing WiMoSpeed to storage card is that if device ever won't boot at new speed, the card can be removed and the device will boot at original speed.

    1. MOST IMPORTANT: Ensure WinMoSpeed will function safely on your device at desired speed by using it for several days while setting the speed manually.
    2. Run WiMoSpeed, set to desired speed, click "create link with current settings". This will create a lnk file under the install directory, usually "/Program Files/WiMoSpeed" or "/Storage Card/Program Files/WiMoSpeed".
    3. Copy that lnk file to the "/Windows/Start Up" folder.
    4. Reboot device.
    5. Run WiMoSpeed to verify "current CPU speed" is correct.

    LIMITATIONS / PROBLEMS
I am working on this in my spare time, beside my job, my mate and some other interest. I own a Rhodium-device only, so I can not reproduce errors on other devices and debugging is very difficult and time-consuming. Be patient.

WiMoSpeed supports Qualcomm MSM7200 (and compatible) and is actually limited to ROMs of
    • Rhodium,
    • RhodiumW
    • Topaz
    • Blackstone
    • Whitestone / Imagio
    • Raphael / Fuze
    • Diamond
    • Kovsky / Xperia
    • Quartz
    • Pure
    • test (!) support for Jade, Panther, Mega and Rose

!!! If you have a device listed above and WiMoSpeed could not identify your ROM please post here what part of your ROM WiMoSpeed couldn't identify (OEMXIP and / or RADIO-ROM) and include a download-link of your ROM (OS, RADIO) !!! Otherwise I will ignore your post. Thank you.

If you are going to report an error please include the ROM identification of WiMoSpeed shown in the GUI (e.g. OS "Rhod016 / PLL2", Radio "4.49.25.91")

    TECHNIQUE
Basically WiMoSpeed is hardware-independent, because it lets WM change clock speed. But I couldn't get WM to switch the clock reliable on request so WiMoSpeed had to switch the clock registers itself on setting a new speed.
Therefore WiMoSpeed depends on CPU-hardware, RADIO- and OS-ROM.

Raising or lowering cpu speed didn't change battery drain or device temperature noticeable. So there isn't dynamic clocking in WiMoSpeed, but WM is still controlling and changing cpu-speed on battery.

    thanks to
    -all donators for the support
    -eboelzner for Sense UI SDK
    -dmvandijk for the icon
    -the internet ;)

    TODO-LIST
    • ?

    Support for
    • non-HTC MSM7200/7201
    • non-MSM7200/7201
    devices is uncertain.
