Hi to all!

This idea was taken by me from htc amaze 4g thread for disabling capacitive button backlight.
I have modified it for mtk 6577 based phones to disable button backlight.

Just open terminal and paste this
After entering su

mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system
chmod 777 /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system

Hi,

is it possible to increase button backlight with your method? I have Zopo ZP980 and button backlight is very weak. I edited build.prop, but nothing changes.

Best regards

@rwx

Navigate to
/sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
Through root explorer
If brightness is set to 255
Then its full
The problem is hardware then
If its less then 255 then
Enter this in terminal emulator
After entering su

mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system
chmod 777 /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
echo 255 > /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness
mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p29 /system

Hope it helps

Thanks for reply.

/sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/brightness ... is set to 0.
/sys/devices/platform/leds-mt65xx/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness ... is set to 255.

I think these two settings are correctly, and leds can not increase?!

Hi.. i used above command on mtk 6592 to reduce lcd brightness by replacing 'button-backlight' with 'lcd-backlight' and echo to 3.. as soon as i pasted brightness reduced to 3 but after screen lock device wont wake and after reboot it returned to default brightness '30'. so i want to know whether these command makes permanent changes to default settings or just temporary.. also for temporary changes i can edit brightness from above location with root explorer text editor.. both method works but temporary..
can you please provide any permanent solution to reduce default lcd brightness or comment on above issue.
Thanks..
