It will format your system and data to ext4 during install. The choice of the profile may influence what you see on the market. dowanrac reported that it can be solved by using market enabler.

dowanrac's observation was interesting because when I look at the source code of market enabler, it is basically faking the Network Operator and the corresponding ISO. That means using market enabler should have same effect of setting the right Network Operators using the app included with the ROM. I'll post some other Network Operator name in the 2nd post.

One more thing. If your country is not on the list, you can find a friend with an Android phone and install this app

You will be able to find out suitable Network Operator for your region. (Just don't copy your friend's device ID, SIM serial no. and Subscriber ID ;))

^ device id hack doesn't work in my case, bro. copied phone info from my htc android phone, saved then rebooted. if the hack works, should i be expecting play store to show sms apps, viber, etc as compatible with the device?

nice work on the rom though, man! thanks for this. btw, mind if we put up a mediafire link for the dl? i find it easier & faster than most

There are 2 aspects of device id hack.
1. The hack will allow phone apps to be installed and run on galaxy player. E.g. whatsapp will install on galaxy player with the hack. (This depends on how the app interpret the phone settings)
2. The hack still cannot help you too see phone apps on Google Market. (This depends on how Google market interpret the phone settings). However, you can do a manual install of your phone apps if you can find the apk file of your favorite apps. Whatsapp is one such example, it is not showing up in the market but it can be installed on our devices.

I still need to understand more on how Google market works. The worst case is I need to use one of those hacked vending.apk.

unfortunately, its not that easy, WT Ho. vending/phonesky.apk's, although modded/hacked arent enough. u need a "google services framework" hacked as well. issue is, once u open market it will auto-update and bye-bye. so its about disabling auto-update and hack 2 apk's. i am not aware if anyone did it, modded vending/phonesky u can find.

From what I know there is a modded vending.apk with restrictions disabled and update disabled. See the thread here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1580827. I think the part about lifting restrictions can be modified further to be user controllable (i.e on and off). Of course you still need to disable update permanently.

I am currently working on Right To Left language support (e.g. Arabic and Hebrew). Since I have absolutely no knowledge about these languages, can anyone comment on whether the following screenshot is what you are expecting?

Basically, when you are entering text it will show up from right to left.

i used that with your previous ROM version. same thread u mentioned. no luck. only market enabler did it for me. and i still have incompatible app error on market. further in that thread, 2 ppl say that 2 files need to be hacked. issue is, if they manage to do it on a phone, on our player seems trickier.

sorry i didnt have the time to test a bit your last ROM. promise will do it this week although im watching quite a bit of football due to EURO 2012 :D

after i finished installing it then i rebooted it up i tried turning on wifi and it says error? (this has also happened on any other GB rom i have tried but not for an ICS rom)

Thanks for everything. One thing I would like to add, always remember to
Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Dalvik Cache even when you're loading the same rom again. My home button broke when I reloaded it again, testing the Device ID hack on the market.

Besides that I had no problems getting it on.

One suggestion, can you have Droidwall preloaded as well?

If anyone is curious, I used these instructions.

i have installed the rom but im stuck at boot first gives me samsung screen and then just a black screen but i can see the led still glowing.

Could someone provide a mirror of this? I really don't feel like creating yet another 4shared account and spending an hour or two downloading this.

Edit: Weird, I decided to let it go over night, and it downloaded in two minutes. Well how about that!

My Galaxy keeps crashing when I do things too fast or when it lags! How do I even fix this? It's really irritating. I hope there's a fix because I really like this ROM.

    Custom ROM GB.XXKPH.WT-0.4.0

    This is a rework of my previous ROM using a new EU stock ROM (XXKPH). The biggest change from my previous ROM is the installation. I am now using the AROMA installer that has been popping up in many different Android phones. It turns our that the AROMA installer works pretty well with Galaxy Player. It will open up more options for ROM developers in packaging their ROM.

    Prerequisites
    • You have a Galaxy Player 5.0 International or US (YP-G70).
    • For US device, you need to have Entropy's kernel. You can get the kernel in this thread.
    • For international device, you need to have rumirand's kernel. You can get the kernel in this thread.
    • Your internal SD card has more than 200M bytes free.

    Installation Instructions
    1. Copy the zip package you downloaded from the link above to your internal sd card.
    2. Turn off your device.
    3. Boot your device into recovery mode by pressing Vol Up+Home+Power. You can release your buttons once you see the Samsung logo.
    4. In main menu, use "wipe data/factory reset" clean up your data directory.
    5. In advanced menu and do a "Wipe Dalvik Cache".
    6. In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard".
    7. Then select "choose zip from internal sdcard".
    8. Pick the zip file you put on the internal sdcard.
    9. Select "Yes" to start the flashing.
    10. Now the AROMA installer will start. Follow the installation steps shown.
    11. At the end of the installation, press 'Finish' and you will go back CWM Recovery.
    12. DO NOT WIPE data after the installation! Otherwise you will wipe out apps installed in the data partition!
    13. If it is a success, go back to main menu and select "reboot system now".

    Installation Instructions for Mods
    1. Install the base ROM first using the instructions as shown above.
    2. Install the additional mod using "install zip from sdcard" in CWM.
    3. No need to do data wipe after the installation.
    4. If you want to revert to the base ROM, flash the uninstaller (if available).

    V0.3.0 is now up for testing! The key feature is the ability to change phone parameters through the included "WT ROM Tweaker" app.

    If you are able to get hold of a real phone, you can copy those parameters to your galaxy player.

    During the install, you can choose from 3 different phone profiles for HK, US and UK. I have been using the HK profile without much problem but US and UK profiles will need more testing as there are quite a bit of guess work going on in the random generation of SIM serial no. and subscriber ID. One important test is to check if it interfere with the operation of Google market.

    Information for ROM users

    • Device ID Hack - I have made quite a lot of changes to the device id hack. The phone parameters are now moved from "rom-settings" on sdcard to "/data/property" which is a much more standard way to handle properties. Another important feature is the "WT ROM Tweaker" app. The app gives you the ability to change phone parameters like network operator, SIM card serial no. and etc.

    • Using Whatsapp - Whatsapp is still not showing up on market therefore I have included the apk in the ROM. With the device ID hack, the Whatsapp can be run on Galaxy Player. After accepting the Whatsapp's agreement, you will be asked for a phone number. You need to enter a REAL phone number for the verification to work. It will try to send a sms to your phone number for verification. But of course the sms verification will fail because the phone number does not belong to the Galaxy Player. After a few minutes, Whatsapp will present you with another option by calling your phone number. You will receive a call from Whatsapp playing back the verification code to you. You can then use the code to register Whatsapp. Now you are set. However, this registration is tied to the IMEI generated by the device id hack. Therefore DO NOT delete the "rom-settings" folder under your sdcard. Otherwise you need to do it all over again when a new IMEI is generated.
    • 13 status bar toggle buttons - To use the toggles, slide down the notification and you can slide the buttons left and right. Pressing the button will toggle the item. Long press the button will bring you to the setting. You can also use the include Quick Setting app to enable and reorder these buttons.
    • Installation Log - If you experience installation issues, you can save the installation log at the last step of your installation. It should be located at the same folder as your ROM zip.

    Can you provide more information on the steps you did? Also the TW 4.5 looks very similar to 4.5.
