Thanks for your answer
Cheers,

Yes, the title of "updating" usb drivers is misleading. In your case (as in mine) it's downgrading the drivers , but is needed to get the device connected.

hi, having problem to have HTC touch recognized as USB. heres my scenario.

- winXP SP3. Not installed Activesync at all. do we need to ?
- place HTC touch in bootloader mode(volumw down + power button), get the bootloader page with the following:
BLAC100 32M
SPL-1.56.01iNex
MicroP-Blackstone (LED) v6

with at the botton (Serial),

attach phone via USB on laptop, get usual windows recognized new device and try to add drivers, which fails.
after this in Device Manager, there is NO "HTC USB" tyope entry, only and unrecognized device called " Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"

and still, the bootloader screen shows "Serial" can never get it to goto "USB".
pls help/advise
thanks

Install activesync then open it and go to 'connection settings', then enable 'allow usb connections'

Now put device into bootloader then try connecting it to pc. Should change from 'serial' to 'usb' after a few seconds. If it still doesn't show 'usb' then you may need to update usb drivers by following this guide

Hey ,

First of all, a fantastic guide for the whole process . I really enjoyed reading and doing the same on my phone. However, i experienced a couple of things even though i followed the steps exactly as mentioned in the guide.

1. The first time I tried running " USPL GUI v 2.5 " , my fone screen went blank and it did not turn up . I tried switching it on , opening the battery and waited for a while but nothing happened .

I tried pushing the reset button next to the sd card slot and it came back on to the bootloader menu again .

2. After USPL 3f step, the fone rebooted and went on ot the home screen with minimal colors. Guess this was not meant to happen as it was not mentioned in the guide but im still sharing this just in case anybody get to this situation.

I did however follow the guide completely and i managed to flash the ROM. Its still booting up as I type, and i'm very happy to have done this.

Thanks again , and the WIKI helped a lot !!!

qtek 9100 flash problem
Got a qtek 9100 with win 7.

Doesn't see device as HTC but as pocketpc.
Can get in bootloader. SPL/IPL 2.18.
USB in bottom.

When i try to flash the flash utility crashes. In several different cases.

When i remove usb cable, no serial is visible.

Anyone a clue how to proceed for me?

Thanks i.a..

If 'usb' appears at bottom of bootloader when device is connected to pc you shouldn't need to upgrade/downgrade drivers. From looking at your SPL your issue is that you need either HSPL or USPL on your device first before you can flash a rom
