Google Pixel 8 Pro
By going through the manual & comparing it to the EU version I've compiled a list of things tmous has changed on the phone. (in case anyone was interested)

Removed:
  • Quick Lookup - ability to select something & choose lookup through Google, Wikipedia, etc
  • Show Me app
  • Ebook reader completely missing even though HTC widget is still there
  • Voice Recorder
  • Dock settings
  • Locations
  • The Device Setup on first boot is missing things

Added:
  • Wifi calling (Tmobile's UMA feature)

I wonder why Tmobile removed all of these?

Here is a Voice Recorder app in the market that someone recommended since ours is missing:
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.tokasiki.android.voicerecorder

So I have all these missing APKs along with their respective ODEX files that I got off a Euro ROM. Now how in the heck can I push these to my Sensation? I attempted to install and it gives me an error via QtADB.

I'm curious about the $20 unlimited since i currently pay $30, can I just request it from them? I've been with T-Mobile for about 7 years now.

I called yesterday and had them switch my data plan from the older $30 unlimited to the $20 2Gb "unlimited". I never use more than 1Gb/mo, so not a problem for me. The CSR did not hesitate to make the change.

That's awesome, haven't had the chance yet but I will try soon. Did you directly asked them for that plan?

Yes. I just said I understand there's an Android Preferred data plan that's $20/mo. She agreed, and made the switch. No problem at all. You can check your past monthly usage online, or ask the CSR to do it. If you're consistently under 2Gb, and are paying more than $20 now it's a no-brainer.

Oh ****!!!!!!!!!! Going through YMMV bull**** and found the holy grail - free unlimited wifi

here's the deal - all account specialists (retentions) have the option of adding it to an account - usually for coverage issues. anyone who says they never heard of it is a liar or n00b

Finally got it and my old plan

funny. I was getting ready to reinstall my operating software because I couldnt find voice record. actually, they didn't take it completely off. If you download the widget on HTC you can still use it and the app DOES come up. I just used it last night but couldnt find the app to get to my files so I had to hit the record button and then the saved notification in my taskbar. Also, I could send the file via email but not text. I had it before I upgraded to build 2.3.5 on T-Mobile. Ive put off rooting on my new phone but looks like I will do that today to remove apps and reinstall the voice recorder apk.

Oh, and keep in mind your minutes still get used up even if you are using Wifi calling (sucks). Otherwise the call quality is good.

Not if you make a simple call to TMO...they changed this policy somewhere around the 10-15 of May but you have to call and ask for it since they didn't do it to everyone's account automatically. Just call and ask to have the Wifi calling on your phone not count against your minutes and they will code your account properly to prevent using your minutes.

tmonews is worthless when trying to make your case with T-Mobile

Without official proof that they are offering it free and unlinked to plan minutes it does me no good since none of the people I have spoken with (4 so far) at T-Mo know anything about it. I use the app all the time and have it configured for what I need. I found it while trying to turn off the stupid notification bar message about counting against your plan minutes. The only thing i lack is evidence to make my case to T-Mobile.

I will try again in the future. If it is policy then it doesn't really matter if I have to wait a month even. I can modify the different data and minutes aspects of my plan without renewing my contract.

Call and ask to speak to customer loyalty. When the prompt comes up say "representative" when she asks what kind say "loyalty" it connects you to the account cancellation/account specialist departments, and they have more power and usually more knowledge than the normal CS reps

tip: they can also put you on the 5gb android "preferred" plan where you pay $20 a month for the unlimited 5gb data instead of $30. Depending on how long you've been with them
