Question:
peter goebbels - 11:34 AM
Was wondering what is the difference between the two versions of Minimal Gapps that were uploaded today?
Answer:
Daniel Koman - 1:28 PM
build 67 has 4.4.2 services framework, build 68 has 4.4.3 services framework.

Personally, I don't like to dirty-flash/over-flash GApps packages.
I suggest the semi-clean approach:
-wipe /system
-flash slimsaber
-flash gapps
-wipe cache/dalvik
-reboot system
the only items that I have to "fix" after this method are:
-re-enable xposed installer
-re-establish my favorite DPI (build.prop)
-check TiBu for orphaned data, and delete if present.
All apps and their settings are untouched, and I am assured a clean GApps installation, all with very little added effort..
-Cyril
No only system apps and they are replaced buy the new install of the ROM and gappsWiping /system doesn't nuke your apps in the process? I don't honestly know...

If you load 67 onto 4.4.3 it will update itself I'm assuming, right?
Another question: I changed my dpi and my media scanner now feels the need to go berzerk on me. Is that related or pure coincidence?

Well, I realized that the one listed in the OP is only updated to 5.8.60, so, I don't think there's an issue?
I'm not aware of any media scanner-dpi issues, but that doesn't mean that they aren't somehow linked. The method that I outlined, is the method that I use to upgrade each week, and I promise you, I don't re-install and configure everything each week.
You're right, the note about versions 67 & 68 do not apply to the stable GApps packages, which are recommended for use with this firmware.
For those feeling frisky, there are other options.
As David mentioned, Your /system partition is typically only populated by the firmware (OS and included apps), and Google Apps. All play-store and sideloaded apps are typically installed to /data. Even the settings for /system apps are actually stored on the /data partition.
Idk about y'all but I'm getting much better standby battery life with 4.4.3.
Been messing with it too much to let it sit and see.
BTW, I meant to ask...Cyril's "Clean/dirty install" method...would that work for a new version of the ROM itself as well? I'm assuming so...
It comes from my hobby to building rom that is actually for private use and then some users found it on my goo.im. Due to some suggestions from them (rkoby13 is one of them ), I decided to create this thread to share my builds with you.
This build is compiled using SaberMod toolchain and like the official one, it is built from the same source: Slimroms github.
I could cherry-pick some commits ahead from Slimbean team or patches from other repositories that I find useful.
The ROM and the kernel are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please be understand.
In summary, it is still Slimbean that is compiled with SaberMod toolchain. [...]
