Just installed this ROM. Love the installer -that was a pleasant surprise!

@Diamondback - would it be possible to consider implementing this Keyboard.apk hack which, instead of just launching the stock ICS browser when one hits the "Browser" key on the dock, this will load up whatever is your default browser.

It is a pretty minor change, but I think many will find it useful.

Thanks

Love the new Touch Rom Installer. I have been having troubles with my WiFi signal bars turning grey after unit goes to sleep at night. When I wake my prime, the signals stays grey and I have to reboot the tablet. Really sucks, any ideas?

Diamond, just had a look at stock build.prop. VM heap size is 256mb. Why so high? Also, I find other vm values confusing, what's that 5m vm start?

Could you share your knowledge here please?

Thanks in advance.

256 is stock from Asus, if I remember correctly. I run 128 on my Atrix.

Correct, it's stock. But iirc recommend size is about 32-48 for Android. Even ics. I'm quite sure it has to be lower, but I would like an opinion from a more experienced person.

Set size of Dalvik VM heap (how much RAM each instance of the VM is allowed); depending on how much RAM that is available to a device, this can be increased. <<<<found in Google. So each instance of vm is allowed quarter of all available ram? That's mad.

I have random tablet restart. Some times the reboot is one after another, some time after 3-4 hours. Did someone have same issue? Any fix?

This Virtuous ROM is very stable. Have not heard of anyone having this problem. In your position, I would lean toward re-flashing this ROM after doing a full wipe ("wipe data/factory reset"), assuming you have not already tried this.

It's maximum limit not a fixed size ;) Java/dalvik VM heap changes according to the needs with a maximum value of 256mb,

Hey guys I just rooted my prime & installed the ez overclock app that lets you overclock to 1.6 ghz.But my question is..Is the virtuous rom better in a performance perspective (web browsing, speed, etc) than the ez overclock app?

Devs: can't see if this has been addressed, but when trying to tap on the "shop" icon on the top right of the apps drawer, nothing happens. However it works just fine from the actual "play store" app icon of the drawer?

Curious if that is part of the rom or a small bug.

:p

thanks

I know the activity name changed... that's why any old market shortcut you had on your home screen had to be re-done; to link to new play store activity file. Might be the same for the shop link???

That has nothing to do... Virtuous is a complete ROM, EZ overclock is just an app to tune cpu frequency. You can't compare apples and oranges.

    Virtuous Prime

Welcome to Virtuous Prime. This is a pretty much stock build of Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich with tweaks and optimization's by the Virtuous Team.

Virtuous Prime is the result of a collaborative team effort by the following developers:

    Virtuous S-Series

S-Series ROM's are pretty close to stock, with basic optimisations and tweaks. This series is designed for people who rely on their device 24/7 and are not looking for the latest and greatest features. These ROM's will only be updated if and when an official release is announced.
We also encourage people to use these stable builds as bases for their own ROM's.

More information can be found on our Blog.

    • Shut down the prime
    • Hold both the Power-button and the Volume-down button until the splash screen appears and some white text in the left top corner is visible
    • Release both buttons and press the Volume-up button
    • The device now boots into your CWM recovery
    • Make a backup of your current ROM
    • Inside CWM select "wipe data/factory reset" (optional but highly recommended)
    • Then flash the rom zip as usual

    Downloads

Make sure you do a full wipe (aka "wipe data/factory reset" in CWM) before flashing this!!!

Please note that the ROM needs to settle down after the flash so give it at least 10 minutes after booting to reach the normal speed and smoothness!!!
