This is perfect for what I am looking for (for the most part). I started working on compiling e17 for the 13.04 release for personal use, and to give another choice for users, mainly because I love the tablet (illume) interface it provides. I completely understand your focus on multiple windows and more multitasking and thats awesome and your choice.
I tried installing and came from a basic install without using kexec or smackme. I had a CM, CWM, and 13.04 installed all through moboot. I ran AcmeUninstaller, the ubuntu uninstaller and was left with only webOS. From there I followed the basic steps in installing this by putting the uImage.smackme2, rootfs, and uimage.kexec all in the sminstall dir, booted smackme and watched it install. Everything seemed to work well execpt for when I use kexec to boot ubuntu. Runs through a standard dmsg and ends with
The disk drive for /mnt/sdcard/ is not ready yet or not present.
keys:Continue to wait, or Press Ss to skip mounting or M for manual recoveyr
Im kinda stuck, as there are no buttons to press, but I need a conformation as I think it is because I have no android ROM installed therefore there is no /mnt/sdcard/. If I am correct I have no problems installing one but maybe it would be optimal to provide a failsafe. Maybe map the S key to power or a vol key ( dont know how difficult that would be ) or even an auto skip for people like me with no android installed.... Just suggestions after the clarification of course. Great work sir, this is truely a linux mindset on providing more options or freedoms for the user!
THANK YOU!!!!
as far as customizing the e17 DE, there is a great sites like kde-look.org or gnome-look.org made for e17. You can find it here
