I just accepted the ota from .893 rooted with ROTA script and retained root. Does anyone know how to flash back to .893? Can I just rsd with the .893 fxz and be good?

Do a search for rooting droid 4... its called motofail... at least that's what Dan is calling it...

I was in the same boat as all of you... I had even forever rooted and still lost root.

So I tried this method and it worked like a charm... and quickly... much more quickly then zerg.

Hope this helps!

Ok maybe i'm missing something here. I updated to .902 and need to get back to .893. Trying to use RSD to fxz i get failed flashing process 6/22 having to do with the cdt.bin file.

From what I understand of previous posts I can use the cdt.bin from the .902 update. My question is, where can I get this file?

tuckmobile's guide here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1455888 shows how to achieve root after having the 902 update.

1. Restore back to stock 893.
This can be done by the following methods:
1. Toggle back to stock system using Safestrap
2. Restore a Nandroid backup if you used Bionic Bootstrap
3. Use the FXZ file to restore back to stock 893
5. Use pathsaver

2. Root
If you are at stock 893 there are multiple methods to do this.

3. ForeverRoot
This can be done by chaning a few permissions to a few files either by RootExplorer or ADB

4. Apply 902 Update
You can apply it manually or OTA

Is there a "best" method to do that from .902?

What I did was took 893 FZX file, unzip it, and then take the 902update file, unzip it, and copy the cdt.bin file from 902 to the 893 FZX. I then ran that with RSD 5.6, and that brought me back to 893. I then used rota893 from this thread http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13807-root-ota-55893-aka-rota893/

That gave me 4ever root, and then I used stock recovery to run 902update. Everything worked for me.

But be warned that RSD will wipe the internal sdcard. Follow this post to avoid wiping.

I don't think there's any other way other than going back to 893 and make sure you have forever root from p3 as i heard other keep root scripts/apps weren't reliable

Many people have this issue too when they manual update to 901 and no1 figure out how to root while on 901

Only way is to go back to 893 - root - forever root

Many people tend to misunderstand when they manual root 893 they'll also have forever root its 2 separate thing
