Hey guys, I got my Wifi Retail boot-locked GTab rooted very easily thanks to this thread, I appreciate the help.
But I have a quick question. I'm trying to use ROM Manager to manage backups of my rom, but when I go to use it, it complains that it first needs to install ClockworkMod Recovery. I obviously already have this on there, as I was able to root, how come ROM Manager can't see that? Is it safe to let it try to install CWM like it wants to?
Just got my Gtab two days ago and despite having some issues (minor) I want to root as I have all of my devices. I am familiar with odin and have downloaded and installed all the necessary files. I am sure it is straightforward but I do have one question before embarking on the root procedure. I read nothing relating to this in the OP and am hazy about what I read from searches. So here goes-- Since I do have some issues and will probably be returning the device for exchange if I root it and apply CWM recovery(using the procedure listed in OP) how can I unroot and return it to stock recovery? I apologize if I have missed info on my searches. I guess i want to use this device as a test for root and roms(perhaps a custom rom will fix the issues(black screen freezes while playing videos- Samsung apps FC on a regular basis etc) and still be able to return it if the issues are still present. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!
I have linked this thread in the topic of the #gtab channel on irc.fossnet.info for people to revert to in case of problems keep up the great work Lordeff07 let us know if you need anything.

OP, thanks for the instructions. Before I proceed I was just wondering if this wiped the Tab or just affects the recovery piece, no wipe? Read the whole post and didn't see an answer so I figured I'd ask.
Thanks!
Nope. No wipe, all odin does is flash CWM as your new recovery which in turn you use to istall the root zip and every other thing you could one day choose to install.
Be sure to make a backup though the very first time you go into CWM, then copy that backup over to your computer and save it. If anything ever goes wrong... you will be very, very happy you did this .
Ok thanks! So I took the plunge, followed the instructions, but when I get to the step of installing the zip file from the SDCard I get "E:Can't mount /sdcard".....Am I missing something or is something wrong with my tab?
You shouldn't be having that problem.
Did you copy the zip file to the root directory of your tablet storage? And check to see if you can at least see your tablet on your computer when connected via USB. Then when trying to access the tablet from CWM be sure the tablet is not mounted to the computer as a USB. Better yet, when trying to flash using CWM just disconnect the tab from the computer.
If all else fails, try re downloading the CWM odin file again and reflashing.
Just tried the whole process again, and was not attached to computer when I rebooted to recovery. The file is in the root of the drive that pops up in My Computer.
Could it be because my tablet is encrypted?
Lol, there you have it... thats is most probably it. But if I may ask, what makes you think your tablet is encrypted or was it something that you know was done to the tablet?
I encrypted it through the settings on the tablet. Using the built-in encryption....
Well, that may be it, most likely cause what is happening is that CWM is simply not getting access to your device storage.
See if you can undo that. Though i honestly doubt thats it. You can also get into the IRC chat room, there you will usually find devs that know a lot more about this than I do. And they will be more than willing to talk you through it. the irc chat link is in the OP.

Any ideas how i would be able to move the backup to my MAC computer?
Hi to all,
First of all big thanks and credits for Lorddeff07 for this extraordinary thread.
Since I am very long in android world and currently my phone is Samsung Galaxy S II, I decided to buy this beautiful tab.
Today I got deliver 3G version (P7500). I noticed that rooting, flashing our tabs is not so quite easy as for galaxy s phones.
I wanted to root my 3G version (P7500) using your guide from first post
Although DL link is broken, so can u upload it again mate or directs us to some other guide for rooting and CWM for P7500 models.
Also, as I saw, currently there isn't any custom rom for P7500 models? Am I right or I am missing something?
Thank you so much for your time replaying my post and for your work toward community
Kind regards,
Vert
I'm just going to copy exactly waht I typed in the IRC -- I'm stuck without being able to reboot into recovery with an I/O tab. Also cannot get fastboot to work
- i got some help from here earlier but now i'm stuck again in rooting/flashing a custom rom on the IO edition
<slobdogg> i went through the ODIN process to revert to 3.0.1, then was able to adb reboot recovery and install the root file
<slobdogg> afterwards i installed clockwork mod using RM, and then did the update to a 3.1 OTA file on XDA
<slobdogg> now i'm supposed to reboot into recovery to reinstall root but i cannot
<slobdogg> even in ADB if i reboot recovery it just restarts the device...also, I cannot enter recovery through the Vol Down + Power method, just fastboot and odin
<slobdogg> so im right back where I was (3.1 with no root)
Thanks so much. But the download link doesnt work. Would appreciate it if you could get it working! Looking forward to flashing roms!
EDIT:Nevermind-its working
