@dbrickg can you please repost the link to the forum for the gps fix. The site truncated it with "...." in the middle of the url. Thank you

sorry, i didn't realize my cut-and-paste was truncating the link. it's post #107 in the cm12 thread, or maybe i can get this link to work this time:

Did any one else lose Root after updating to CM12?

Oh, and yes, everyone loses root. CM12's default is to turn off root, for security or something. You need to go into Settings / Developer options / Root access, and change the check box from "Disabled". I just set mine to "Apps and ADB", but you could try "Apps only"... depending on your requirements. Some people have also installed SuperSU, which seems to work.

Thank you very very much.

Also has any one tried the 1/25/2015 nightly here https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i605
It gets stuck on the set up screen and won't go past the WiFi set up. Also the keyboard will not pop up or display? Force closing by using the back button will not let you out of the set up. Using Google voice to get to settings to select a keyboard will not let the keyboard show up either

Also does any one else have a problem with cm12 ignoring and not using the host file?

Yes, forgot to mention that. The keyboard is a known problem in the cm12 nightlies. You have to skip the wifi setup, and logins, etc. Once you get to the regular screen, you can go to Settings / Language & input / Current keyboard, and click on the "Hardware" toggle switch. Then your keyboard should work, so you can go back and set up your wifi and your accounts.

Unable to make a backup

I am using the Phil recovery. Every Backup attempt ends with an error in the data section. I have tried both the internal and external locations.

Thanks

I assume you have an external sdcard? How much room is left on it? I always have to do a manual backup after booting into recovery: "Backup and Restore / Backup to /storage/sdcard1." Maybe you should look at the "Delete from /storage/sdcard1" first and make sure there aren't a bunch of old backups taking up all the space. When you first start the backup, it should say something like "Free space 6312Mb (20%)" and "Needed space: 2748Mb". If you don't have enough space, it will try to do the backup anyway, but it'll fail once the backup fills up all the available space, which usually happens during the data backup portion, since data takes up the most space... usually

unless you plan to compile it yourself, if i had to guess... I'd say no (but I've been wrong before).

cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-i605.zip
from here
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=i605+&type=snapshot
is probably where all the CM11 we will officially get.

from what i've seen Official CM development on the i605 has moved on to CM12.1 (if/when there is a fix expect to see it there). sbrissen could confirm or deny the assumptions above.

in fact CM has already patched it in CM12 and CM12.1
See here: http://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/7iuX21Tz7n8

my advice (for what little it is worth): It is time to upgrade to CM12

If you have issues with the official sbrissen official version here:
http://xdaforums.com/note-2-verizon/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-t2967940

then try Wilson3q's ROM from here:
http://xdaforums.com/note-2-verizon/development/rom-unofficial-build-i605-t3069506
(I've been using that for a while now due to a fixes that haven't been sorted in the official build)

That said, if you are "married" to CM11... It is likely you could disable auto retrieve MMS as added precaution, see this for details:
https://www.twilio.com/blog/2015/07/how-to-protect-your-android-device-from-stagefright-exploit.html

Good luck!

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4 (KK), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     *
     * Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
     * cause of male impotence.
     */

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
