I have root access - pretty easy actually. Here is what I did:

1) Install the 4.3 update from sammobile via odin - let it boot
2) reboot and install cwm via odin - you can get the latest here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=47607315
3) reboot into recovery and install supersu using cwm - I believe the latest is here: http://download.chainfire.eu/204

EDIT: use this supersu instead: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=47884836&postcount=54

Thats it! Now restoring my apps and data using Titanium backup.

I updated via OTA. Can i root with this method? I put the .tar recovery file in the PDA spot and flash in ODIN mode, Odin says success, but when i reboot recovery, it's Android, and not CWM. Am i missing something?

If you mean 4.3, sammobile.com has links in their firmware section. You need to register (free).

One caution - the 4.3 Odin packages for the i317m contain the MK5 bootloader. Once installed, it cannot be reverted to older bootloaders. The 4.3 bootloader contains a warranty void flag which gets displayed in download mode that gets tripped as soon as you flash anything custom. If your phone is out of warranty - no big deal - it doesn't prevent ability to flash anything custom.

Before long I'll be mirroring every i317m 4.3 variant - just in time for kitkat! ;)

Here's a devhost link for the Roger's version - http://d-h.st/5dV

In order to avoid all the adware they throw at you I recommend visiting their home page first, creating an ID and logging in, then clicking the link above.

SGH-i317m from omni to stock

First of all I'm a complete noob in android so go easy on me. (I played some days with a S2 just to get an idea but Odin,CWM, TWRP and so on got me a bit confused)
I just got a SGH-i317M (BELL i think) with some custom 4.4.2 rom rooted and SIM unlocked.
I want to use 4.3 (after asking around for what is better) preferably stock (without those carrier things would be good). Thing is i dont want to lose my SIM unlock and ofc cant risk bricking as I have no other phone currently. I dont care for the data in the phone; actually it would be good if it gets deleted as i dont need anything from what is here.

Downloaded Odin 3.09 and 4.3 firmware from sammobile.

My question(s):
How do i wipe everything and go to 4.3 stock (rooted preferably) without losing that SIM unlock.
Do i just flash I317MVLUCMK5_I317MOYACMK5_HOME.tar.md5 (4.3 sammobile file) via Odin or it requires more procedures?

Specs (what i think is important)
Model number: T0LTE
Android : 4.4.2
Omni version: 4.4.2-20150404-t0lte-Nightly
Baseband version: I317MVLUCMK5
Kernel version: 3.0.64-OMNI-g9de8607
Build number: omni_t0lte-userdebug 4.4.2 KVT49L 191 test-keys

Thanks in advance

    Hey everyone.

    Chiming in about the update.

So I got it today and had a few issues but corrected them, want to share with others what problems I had if anyone else encounters this.

First thing upon updating I check my flash count status to see what they've done. There is a Knox flag in the bootloader however since our phones (atleast ones manufactured before July 2013) don't not have efuses I noticed its a bit different.

By default it showed for me Knox warranty flag: 0

I'm a big CWM user and decided to go ahead and continue to use PhilZ's CWM touch. Even with the custom flag being switched and the flash count going to 1 my Knox flag remained at 0.

My guess is that if the phone doesn't have an efuse this doesn't change, however I also noticed that the Knox software that they give you on the update is just an starter file and you actually need to download Knox fully on your own if you want it. So maybe because it is not fully installed they flag remains at 0 as well, just a guess.

Upon flashing CWM I installed the latest root from Chainfire, 1.80 however I ran into a problem.
Root worked but SuperSu would crash and I would also get nagged by Samsung security about it and any root app.
I figured out that previously I had used the option in SuperSu to convert it into a system app this is what caused it to crash.
To fix this I used ES file explore to make the system directory writable and had to manually delete the Superuser.apk, reboot & then reinstall off playstore. After all this everything is working fine as it should.

About the security nagging the new SuperSU 1.80 has an option to get rid of this, but you can also manually just disable all the Knox programs using titanium backup as well.
