Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that later today or tomorrow I'm gonna post a thread in themes/apps with most of the boots I've done for the team (makes it easier on dazed venum and jc so they can continue putting out these roms that we love so much)with instructions on how to load so you can add whatever you want..
By the way..all you "football" fans can expect a hooligan based venum boot maybe right in time for the euros and Olympics...muhuhahaha!!!!

So ive tried everything i could think of, from downloading the rom on my pc to odining the el26 cwm kernel from pc as well and i still keep getting the "android is upgrading" screen upon each reboot. Also flashed calks format all several times just to make sure everything is getting wiped. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: still trying to get the odexed version to work properly. Have not tried the deodexed yet. Will try that after work but i would rather run odexed.

Mine does the same..I'm running odexed with kobrdges tweaks..I think it has something to do with zipping files or system apps upon boot and its supposed to do that..someone posted about this a few pages back

I would do one of sfhubs awesome one click restores. Do his all in one odin package of FE22 full restore. Theyre great for cleaning up bits and pieces of junk on these babies. Then go from there reinstalling rom etc. Should help

When i asked about this last night someone had told me that it wasnt supposed to do this after each reboot so i have been doing everything i could think of to try and fix it since. Anyway, thanks for verifying for me so i dont waste anymore time wiping and flashing over and over again trying to fix sonething that isnt broken.

K I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong here, not everyones phone can be as cool as mine, i mean, not everyones phone are the same... ;) I'm on Stromgsteves odexed Venum Ice 6.0 + Kobridges 3.2A for Venum Ice 6.0 and I don't get anything about Optimizing applications or even Starting applications at all.

I just gone did like 10 reboots to make sure I wasn't crazy... (i was disappointed when it didn't show up...) :p

I am really not sure what is the issue with android upgrading. I never stay on ICS roms other than to work on something. EL29 is my daily driver.

I performed a complete manual odex of the system files John sent me and did nothing else.

No themes are made for Venum Ice 6.0 other than a WIP by sleshepic in the themes and apps forum.

Also twisted transfusion etc should work but back up before u flash any of old themes and be ready to uninstall some of the themed/old icon applications and install market ones to stop FCs.

Strongsteve, I don't have my titanium backup app showing in system app at all using your odexed version even though I have it installed. Do you have user installed apps in another area?

I assume it is in /data/app

I would try going to applications and uninstalling and then reinstalling from the market. Like I said.. I really do not know. I have seen other threads that say it is completely normal. If I was on ICS I would try to figure it out.. but at this point, I am not fond of ICS at all.

Rebooting that many times in a row only PROVES you ARE crazy.. Lol

Did you do a fresh install? I was just wondering if those (including myself) that used modified format are the only ones having the Android upgrading at boot.

That was my theory last night. Wondering if the modified wipe going between odexed and deodexed isn't the best idea. I know on GB when I would go from strongsteve's to try one like Calk's deodexed things like restore data only could be wonky when going between the two so maybe full wipe and not trying to shortcut between odex and deodex is the call

Unfortunately, i would have to imagine its not(the best idea). If your not wiping data i figure there have to be apps paired with their odex files still in your system, which a deodexed system doesnt need. I may be wrong but i think starting fresh between odexed and deodexed setups is preferred.

    First time flashing to ICS? see THIS post: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=24028398&postcount=683

    Installation Instructions:
    You must be running a kernel with CWM.
    1) Place the VeNuM ICE RC6.0zip on your SD card.
    2) Power off your phone.
    3) Boot into CWM.
    4) Perform a wipe Cache, and Dalvik-cache. Now in Mounts and Storage perform format/system. Now wipe data (factory reset). You can also perform Calks wipe all zip (found here: http://xdaforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=928432&d=1330705940) if you want but not needed.
    5) Select "install zip from file" and navigate to and select the zip.
    6) When it finishes flashing, go back and select "reboot system now". The first boot will take a couple minutes. Subsequent boots will be much faster.
    Warning: Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
    7. If you DID NOT download the rom to your pc, and dl to your phone and there's a problem, try dl to your pc FIRST before you whine that its a bad dl.

    In Contacts if you use search there is black on black in text box only. If you want to change from the keyboard I made default, just go into settings/language and input and the black Android keyboard is in there as well. All of the battery mod zips from last version still work as do the other mods. I will post those again tomorrow. All of the precautionary ICS flashing rules are in place until possible bricks are 100% gone. Let me know what you think....

    Ok, here we go... I updated Ice to FE16.

    First the thanks:
    Venum - for sharing the knowledge and always answering quesions and building great ROMs.

    Dazedandconfused - for helping me update theme in systemui and helping get rid if annoying message on boot.

    Djdarkknight - his Dark Ginger and Dark Ice CM7/CM9 themes are legendary. I got status bar icons and some apks from there.

    Calkulin - Used his deodexed stock FE16 as the base

    Sfhub - baked in his FE16 Plus kernel

    Agat - answering my questions and his tireless work

    The testers: Venum, Rounsy, Dazedandconfused, Blackcanopy, manufan721, Jsverbal, kobridge, bigpeng, and scaper523 - Thanks for being so thorough!


    Whats new: Well, FE16 of course (modem in Calk's, sfhub's, Agat's threads), more inverted apps (Dropbox, File Manager, CNN, DeskClock, inverted HD YouTube, new calculator, Play Store, and a few others), new boot animation (second version coming soon), build.prop slightly tweaked (wifi scan interval at 180), Venum's init.d scripts from earlier Ice builds (kobridge's build.prop and tweaks can be added easily and maybe a version with his tweaks coming soon)

    Follow flashing directions in the OP. All of the same rules apply when flashing an ICS ROM. A few of us have been using Agat's FE16 kernel with ACS recovery and its working great as well. Let me know what you think. OP to be updated later.. EDIT...forgot to mention the first boot takes a while..be patient!! Edit 2..the extra camera app and messenger app in app drawer are tied to Facebook so if you delete it, all three disappear
