That's the problem then. When the phone is off hold power+home+volume down when prompted press volume up.

just vol down and power works. also do try to simply downgrade nb1 to mk2... nb1 bootloader is locked and it is not possible to "officially" downgrade

Thanks. Isn't it better/easier to just buy the code and keep the nb1?

My reason for rooting is getting the device unlocked. I have just learned at&t will not give the original owner and their customer the unlock code. Will downgrading lead me to get it unlocked?

Ok, so I have used Odin to load the MK2 onto my s4, but now after it has rebooted the phone is stuck on the at&t logo. Any ideas what I should do at this point?
You have to flash the bypasslkm zip via safestrap found here http://d-h.st/w92 to get WiFi working and yes its supposed to be like thatThanks It worked. Now after a successful reboot I am not able to turn the WiFi on. When I swipe to ON it goes back to OFF immediately. The OS is now 4.3, however the baseband is still NB1. Is that how it supposed to be?

Ok the problem now is that after I run the Universal Init.d app it says "your kernel does not have init.d support. The wifi works when running nb1wififix, but only until I reboot. Then I have to run the patch again in order to enable wifi. Please help.
Another issue I'm having is with the RegionLock Away 1.3 app. When hitting region unlock I get a message "could not locate csc data!" Where do I get the csc file from? And will I lose everything I have done so far (downgrading, rooting, modem flash, etc) after I flash the file through Odin?
I am running a semi-working MK2 and after flashing the bypass via safestrap to get the wifi working, will I be able to flash a custom rom such as Cyanogenmod or any other stock Android rom if that?
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place or if there is already a thread about this. If there is, I couldn't find it. I really want to root my phone to use it as a mobile wifi hotspot for my tablet and I am having a really hard time trying to find a link to a forum or a youtube video about how to root my phone. So far, I have only found root tutorials for models other than mine. Do I just have an obscure phone model or is it just more difficult to root? I have wanted to do this for quite some time now so any help is appreciated!

Is there any workaround for this, as this seems like a pain not being able to mount system in recovery.
