No dice.

Do not touch the power button at all with what I said. I can't get it NOT to work like that. With no power and holding the volume buttons, it goes into download mode every time, about 2 secs after I plug in the usb.

Understood. I was just recapping what I've done before yours.

I still can't get it to go in - repeated about 15 times now?

is there anyway to get the 32 bit windows drivers hosted somewhere other than mediafire or mega? the IT department here where I work blocks those sorts of file storage sites.

I've run Odin on my home windows 7 machine without issue. When I try to launch it on this windows xp netbook the window has no text in the buttons to load the pda, pit, etc. It's also in a different looking format/ layout. Did something change or am I missing a necessary step?

Once you get the right sequence of buttons on the phone to push and you get the big yellow downloading triangle on the phone it takes less than 10 minutes.

So along with "Downloading" should it also say "DO not turn off target"?

Yes...You should see a progress bar on your phone...Just watch it and it will slowly fill up...

Honestly mine took 3 minutes from beginning to end at most.
edit: this is not including the first boot up, that adds some time, but the reflash is quick, and first boot maybe takes another minute after that.

Master Clear Questions
Hi,

Some questions- I read all 58 pages, didn't find a clear answer to the following:

What does exactly does master clear do? The first page says it wipes internal storage;
(i) will the phone be functional afterwards (I'm guessing not)?
(ii) does it leave the appropriate directory structures intact (my understanding is that reflashing with odin only modifies the /system directory)

Are the following steps correct to use master clear, with 1 click Odin?
(1) Open Odin
(2) Connect USB to phone (in debug mode, and powered down)
(3) Power up phone normally
(4) Click master clear
(5) Sweat awhile, while something happens
(6) Disconnect usb & power down phone.

... and then to reflash the JF6 Rom:

(7) Start from instructions on first page of this thread, method 2 or 3?

Thanks in advance - figured it was safer to ask than to begin without information.

1. open ODIN

2. with phone OFF hold volume up and down and plug it the USB.... hold volume up and down till android guy with a shovel appears.

3 ODIN should show the start button and say COM bla bla bla........... click START and let it do its thing..... blue progress bar should appear under the android guy with shovel. Shouldnt take more than 1-2 for process to commence.

I tried it on 2 diff captivates and this works perfectly.
