Code:
/* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or the end of the world. Please do some research
 * if you have any concerns about flashing a radio before flashing it!
 * YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the
 * finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. */

How to Flash:

In order for this to work, the HTC Incredible 2 needs to be S-OFF. Flashing the radio with a corrupt file or interrupting the flash, can brick the device, please proceed with caution.

  1. Download the your choice of radio for the HTC Incredible 2.
  2. Make sure the filename is PG32IMG.zip exactly or it will not work and copy it to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
  3. Connect the HTC Incredible 2 to the computer via USB.
  4. On the computer, open terminal and run the following commands:
    Code:
    adb push PG32IMG.zip /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
    adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
NOTE: The md5 should match up the provide the original download location. If not, redownload & try again.
    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
  5. The HTC Incredible 2 will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
  6. The bootloader will scan for the radio update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
  7. Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated radio, and reboot the HTC Incredible 2 normally.

All Verizon Wireless customers are discouraged from flashing anything OTHER than 'x.x.01.xxxx' radios, for stability reasons.

Is there a good place that you would recommend for reading up on the specifics of different radios? Coming from the D1 I only ever had to update the radio after moto pushed one out and the devs hacked it.

I'm petty uninformed on these radios aswell. A further non-vague explanation or a link to some radio literature would be greatly appreciated. Can you tell me which radios are an improvement on the stock with the stock rom?

i think the big question for me is do any of these roms have the gsm bands un-neutered. Meaning, do any of them have the ability to use U.S. bands and not just overseas ones?

Flashing different radios can help with battery life, connectivity (faster download/upload speeds) and lots of other stuff... simply google "why flash different radio android" and you should have plenty of reading and technicals.;)

It's essentially the firmware for...well...the radio hardware. It controls signaling, power, power management, and other things. It's not so much a driver as it is the code that would go on the hardware itself (firmware). It's kinda like the rom that would go in, say, your home router, to put it primitively.

Each version of a radio contains code that can fix problems/defects, as well as configuration tweaks that can affect signal quality, strength, and battery life, as has been explained.

Thanks for all the explanation guys, I definitely appreciate the clarification. Now the question remains, has anyone tested these radios on Verizons US network to see which ones yield better connectivity/battery-life/download speeds?

really looking forward to S-OFF specifically for the radio. My reception sucks on my DI2 compared to the DI1.

Only S-OFF is required, like I started in the OP. And AlphaRev X now supports the Inc2 & will give you S-OFF access on the phone. With S-OFF, the P___IMG.zips do not need to be signed.

    Alright,
I pulled the radio.img and the android-info.txt out of the firmware update and zipped only those files back up to create our flashable PG32IMG.ZIP for you radio junkies. :silly:

I have already updated to this firmware so I have not tried this radio zip.

    Rename to PG32IMG.zip
Put in SD root and flash in bootloader.
    FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK

    http://www.mediafire.com/file/0hpyi140dpsn6zl/RADIO1.09.01.0320-PG32IMG.zip

Let me know how it works. :fingers-crossed:

Had to go find one of my posts on RootzWiki to remember the full radio version number haha. The RUU version can be found in the txt file in the zip.

From the 5.10.605.9 OTA: Radio Version 1.09.01.1111 (US Verizon)

Sent from my brain using human to phone transport technology.

    Champion mate, cheers.

Also, both radios confirmed working on GSM unlocked DInc2.

MD5 sums created, and OP updated to reflect changes.
