if rom already already has a stock from included.if I dl this will it overwrite current kernel

Former Army sergeant 11C

Yes. After flashing this you would need to reflash your custom sense kernel.

If it is not in the stock ROM then it is not in this one. Nothing was added, only removed. :)

Will it work? That I am unsure of..

Google Search and its widget are both fully removed from this ROM, so inherently that would be the cause of the problem. :)

Glad to hear it flashed without problem tho. Thanks for trying it out!

I have re installed google search, but it is not functioning with my search button (it doesn't do anything as far as I can tell). Is there a way to enable it?

Edit: Also, is there a way to get the voicemail app back?

Edit2: sorry to tack on another one., but I downloaded drocap2, which I normally associate with long press search, and i'm also not able to set that (probably same fix as the first issue if a fix is available)

I'm sure there is a way to re-associate it with the soft key but unfortunately I am unsure of how to do so. Sorry.

The voicemail app can be reinstalled, I'll attach the apk to this message. It's the old version tho, I don't have the new version at hand.

nice rom..very2 snappy...
can u make flashable file for htc music, htc pep n htc calendar?

Thanx in advance

Thanks for checking it out.

I'm not sure what you're ask for exactly. the music and calendar apps were left intact in this ROM. Peep (HtcTwitter.apk) was removed. What's the need for a flashable file for them? I'm not sure I understand.

You're better off to just reflash the ROM.

VVM apk worked great. It prompted me for the update and is good to go now.

Missing the bells and whistles from Classic. But if I can get even close to 2 days battery with regular use it would be enough to stay! Lol.

I'll keep checking in to see if anyone else has a fix for the search button.

Glad it worked.

Yeah I'm sure there is someone out there that knows how to do it.

Just a thought.. I'm curious if the apk was pushed to the \system\app directory and then a data wipe was performed if that would fix it. I have no idea if it would.. just a curious thought.

Can you post the apk and I'll try? Do I just copy it to that directory using root explorer? Then reboot into recovery and wipe data, reboot?

If you downloaded the app from the market then you should already have the current apk. It'll be in your \data\app directory if I'm not mistaken. And yes just put the apk in the \system\app folder. Then in recovery just a "factory reset/data" wipe.

If you give it a try let me know how it goes. I'm curious to know the results.

That seems to have done the trick

Edit: long press still not working

Right on good to know. As for the long press issue I have no idea.

I pushed the Voice Search by Google apk (not Google Voice) to system/app and that resolved the long press search issue as well. Thanks for your help.

When apps are placed in system/app, does the market recognize them and notify of updates? That was my first time moving apks there and seems like it could save a bunch of time during fresh installs by moving my common apps there.

Glad I could be of some help. As far as I know yes they are updatable via the market. I know that apps that come preinstalled are. I don't know if that holds true if you place just any app in there though. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try.

I asked this over on your mod/hack/tweak thread also. But will those work on this ROM? OP says this is odex, but the other thread says they are for deodex.

Thanks for your assistance.

De-Odex is now up. FYI: Be sure to allow it to boot at least once before appling those mods, or you may run into problems. That's just how it is unless mods are cooked into a rom. Anytime you wipe keep that in mind. Sometimes mods cause a bootloop if a de-odex'd rom hasnt had the chance to initialize.

Deodex works great.

Copied my common apps to system/apps. All installed automatically, worked great and are showing in market under my apps.

Installed 6 different mods wiping cache and dalvik each time and have had no issues.

Thanks for the help!

Glad everything is working well. What I meant by the wipe issue is if you do a data wipe. Cache wipes are fine. Data wipes will sometimes cause issues.

Anyway, glad I could be of service! :)

Just to let everyone know I'll have it up tonight. Sorry it took so long! It's ready now but I have to head to work and don't have the time to upload and link it right at this moment unfortunately. "Tonight" may mean early early morning, just depends when I get off.

Hey everyone. I wanted to stop in and apologize for not being around much lately, providing support, answering questions, chit-chatting, etc. etc. Life's gotten a little hectic lately and I haven't had much, if any, time to devote to developing and what not.

I'm a professional poker dealer and the casino I work at is losing a dealer. The poker room manager decided to divvy up hours instead of bring in a new dealer. On top of that this is the time of year where business starts to really pick up.

To sum it up I've been working a lot more hours. It's exhausting work. Not because of the activity of dealing cards, but because of the amount of people I have to associate with. Emotionally it's very exhausting lol.

Anyway, I am still around and am still active. I decided to hold off on releasing the new barebones edition I was working on. I completed the final build and testing went great. However, I realized it wouldn't appeal to the masses. Reason being it is an ultra-stripped ROM. In regards to battery life, performance and responsiveness it is top-notch and super-stable. I ran it for over a week without a single reboot and it still ran slicker than greased moose poop.

So what's the downside? All the niceties and conveniences have been stripped out. The rom is extremely lightweight. The zip it just a touch over 100 MB. Basically it's just the bare OS with the Google Services Framework left intact. All the "flashy" stuff was 86'd. I removed some 30+ megs of "junk" over and above my currently released barebones rom. Think smartphone with all the smart removed lol.

So in saying, I don't think many people would find it useful unless you are an elite minimalist like myself that cares more about functionality and performance over convenience and aesthetics.

Thanks! I saw the post and I thought, "Damn! Sounds like a mighty fine ROM." lol
