Stay far away from rom manager, but you have already learned that the hard way I guess lol. Afaik cwm won't stick unless you boot to recovery immediately after flashing cwm and flash a custom kernel (at least) or rom.

I still haven't got around to trying again, but would that ADB thing work for me?

ADB should work because its a recovery window that allows you to force push items and files to ylur phone

Just so you guys know, I tried to download ROM manager to get a different recovery, but when it asked me which device I was using, the Fascinate wasn't a choice. I only got Captivate and I9000 as options. As stupid as I was at the time, I chose I9000 and it froze up the phone once a recovery installed and I had to reroot, wipe data and cache, dalvik cache, and clear clockworkmod out of the SD card to get it to run again.

Its not the ROMs that change the cwm. Its the kernels. If you look at section 4 of droid styles guide you will see that cwm4 fixed for 7 is diff. Look into devil kernel as well. If your not wanting jb yet as its still in its developmental stages, the best ICS I've found working is aokp 40.1 with devil rc 5

I never even changed the ROM during root.
So to make the CWM Red stay as the recovery so that it won't revert back to the stock blue recovery, I must change the Kernel, correct?
Secondly, is there a way I can back up what I have now? Just in case something goes wrong installing a kernel. You never know.

Can I hook it back up to Odin, reflash the .tar file, unplug and put the battery back in, boot straight into the red recovery and back up the phone?
Or will doing this cause the phone not to boot back up properly?

Follow section 4 of droids guide.

To answer your question yes it will revert you to blue cwm at first. But after you do the following you'll be upgraded on a newer version

Odin up
Battery out and plug I to computer
Hold vol down and DL mode
Flash EH03 and atlas pit
Once done reboot phone
Pull battery once fully booted
DL mode again
Flash cwm4 for fixed 7
Flash build 1 or 2
Reboot recovery
Wipe data+dalvik+cache
Flash your ROM
Flash kernel
Reboot
Profit

For the android 4.04 installation, im stuck on step 12. It says that it should only take about 10 secs to do cwm, but mine is stuck on "SetupConnection.." in the odin dialog box. Any clue what to do?

Im such a noob. I went into download mode on the phone before starting up odin. Sorry for the bother :/

HELP! Severe Internet issues...

I accidentally flashed the C-Spire Gingerbread 2.3.6 coming from Froyo Superclean 2.8.
I then noticed that I had really bad internet connection (Wifi was working fine, but the roaming/3G connection).
It was really slow and it disconnected from the 3G network every minute or so.
I flashed many other roms on this guide but the problem persisted.
What can I do?
Currently, I have the EH03 Gingerbread from the stock version from Section 5 of this guide.
Please help!

Depends, what was your stock rom ? ( before you rooted ) also, what do you mean " accidently flashed CSPIRE "

Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda app-developers app

Well, like three months after I got my Fascinate in October in 2010, I installed Froyo stock, then I flashed Froyo Superclean 2.8.
I used it like that until a few days ago, when I discovered that there was Gingerbread.
I googled "samsung fascinate gingerbread" and flashed the first result that came up, which was the stock Gingerbread for C-Spire Wireless.
There my troubles began.
I rooted my phone on SC2.8.

There's a forum topic here listing the different radios that you can use. I'd recommend EH03

So if I were to run into a problem flashing JB from AOKP MS6 would the ICS bootloop breaker be successful or not due to the upgrade? I can get into download mode but have no other computer connection.

It does work. I had a problem flashing DT's Helly Bean ROM along with its add-on. I was super excited to be flashing the ROM (flash-happy, if you will) that i didn't check the .zip file before installing, not realizing that there was a typo in the file. It brought my phone into a bootloop. Thanks to droidstyle's very helpful guide, i was able to get out of a very scary situation. Everything mentioned in that section also works for any 4.1.x ROM, just make sure to follow the guide exactly.

Try flashing the CM7 latest nightly after wiping data, cache, and Dalvik, let it boot back into recovery, then flash it again without wiping anything. Then flash THS Build 1 or 2, let that boot, then reboot, and flash a ROM of your choice after wiping data, cache, and Dalvik.

Don't have the option to flash anything else as that would require being able to put Rom zips on the phone which can't be done if I can't get it full booted. Only Rom I can flash is the aokp that's on there from when I used this guide months ago to root out. I reckon I'll just have to redo everything.

    Samsung drivers- http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25089906/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe

    Odin (computer program)- http://www.mediafire.com/?429fcpdtpckkcea

CWMALL 2.5 (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it)- http://www.mediafire.com/?6x5utoca59et7o9

"su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file (place this file on the root of your sdcard...not within any folders)- http://www.mediafire.com/?38vozx7n37u02a5

Modified stock Froyo kernel (place this file somewhere on your computer where you can easily locate it). This file is only necessary if you're rooting Froyo. It's not necessary for Gingerbread- http://goo.gl/QCYxT

    Instructions:

    1. Install Samsung drivers on your computer.

    2. Open Odin on your computer. (You may need to disable antivirus programs on your computer and/or phone for this to work properly.)

    3. Power off your phone and remove the battery.

    4. Plug the stock USB cord that came with your phone into a powered USB port on your computer (usually on the back of the computer).

    5. Press and hold the "volume down" button on your phone, and continue to hold it while plugging the USB cord into your phone. This will put your phone into download mode. You'll see a large yellow triangle on the screen of your phone. (Let go of the volume button at this point.) You will also see one of the small boxes in Odin turn yellow, as well as "Added" appearing in the message box.

    6. Click the PDA button in Odin (NOT the PHONE button) and navigate to the "CWM2.5_Voodoo.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier. This file does not include a voodoo kernel and will not perform the voodoo lagfix conversion. It's only named as such to note that it is compatible with voodoo kernels.(make sure auto reboot is unchecked, although it should be by default)

    7. Click START. When this process has finished, you'll be notified in Odin (succeeded 1 / failed 0) and your phone's screen will go blank.

*** Step 8 is only for rooting Froyo. If you're rooting Gingerbread, skip Step 8 and proceed to Step 9. ***

    8. Unplug your phone and click RESET in Odin. Repeat Step 5 to get the phone back into download mode and recognized by Odin. Using the PDA button, navigate to the "stock_kernel.tar.md5" file you downloaded earlier, select it, and press START. You'll again be notified in Odin once this process has completed (succeeded 1 / failed 0).

    9. Unplug your phone and re-insert the battery.

    10. Press and hold BOTH volume buttons. While holding them, press the power button. Hold all three simultaneously until you see "SAMSUNG" appear TWICE. This will boot your phone into CWM 2.5 red recovery. If your phone boots up normally here and not into recovery, just wait for it to boot up and then power it down and try again. It may take a couple tries for you to get it right.

    11. Using the volume rocker, navigate down to "Install zip from sdcard." Highlight it and press the power button to select.

    12. Navigate to "choose zip from sdcard" and select with the power button.

    13. Navigate to the "su-2.3.6.1.x.zip" file that you downloaded earlier and select it. Scroll to "Yes," and use power button to select.

    14. When you're advised of completion, press the MENU softkey to go back to the previous CWM Recovery screen, then highlight and select "reboot system now."
