Even so, the Galaxy S received a leak for ICS, has fully functioning ROMs and 3.0 kernels.

The sad part is, since the processors used on Samsung devices rely on mostly open-sourced drivers (unlike Adreno), they didn't even need a Kernel 3, the devs could have cooked one up themselves. It would've been a little challenging of course, but nothing compared to what Nexx took up with the Primo kernel 3 source code.

Ah, misread that! Wow. No wonder like ALL SGS users have ICS, with official support for AOKP etc ...

Damn... I wonder of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is like that too, I've just nee looking through the forums to see which ROM I can put on it, but they are using kernel 2.65 :(

Lol Simon, welcome back with the new username, and signature :p

How did you manage ti change yours? I wad thinking about changing mine too!

Hi Oly,

I've been here all along - just not had much to contribute so I've stayed in OT where I can rant to my heart's content without pi$$ing people off (too much).

I've still got the DS but I strongly suspect it will be replaced in the very near future - but I will keep my baby and play with her more than I have done recently.

As for the username - you simply need to send a PM to 'God' asking him to change it for you ('God' = Mike Channon)

Is it true the DS will get ICS but only sense 3.6?

My wife has just got a Desire C and that comes with ICS and Sense 4.0 and its a less powerful phone.

That's true .
But if you're rooted that won't be a problem for you. I'm typing this post from my desire s with android 4 and sense 4

Thats shocking and seems silly to treat current customers with "poor upgrades" on whats still a pricey phone.

Glad I rooted my phone 2 days ago for the first time using info from here. Now I'm running Fallout v3.0 as I can't figure out how to update to 3.1, lol.

    For all that are interested.

    1. "There is no info that HTC are dealing with bugs"
In May there was an European RUU leak, European version, test keys. It was released here by mdeejay, and despite the fact that the developer made some cleanup and included the latest firmware it was not very well running and got issues. The kernel was not very stable to use on other ROMs as well. This was a real evidence that HTC have still quite some work to do dealing with bugs

    2. "Difference between the Chinese and European release"
Besides the language the Chinese version has zero Google integration. None. They do not use Google apps and services there. Since Sense editions for the rest of the world have deep integration with Google, and taking into account the major changes that Google made to Android and their apps recently this presumes a lot of development and testing in terms of flawless functionality.

    3. "HTC bastards are not giving the Source of the Chinese OTA to the devs to work with."
Considering the previous two points we can assume that the worldwide edition of the kernel may be slightly different. They have to release the source for the Chinese OTA, according to the GPL license. But they have no need to release the source of the other firmware that was changed. Using the kernel source standalone may cause issues as well. HTC will never release something that may not work officially. This makes them the company that they are now and the reason we all bought their device. Because it is HTC, and despite the delay they do a great work

I hope the above will explain the delay for the doubtful :)
If not than please continue the whining in the dedicated thread that was made exactly for this purpose in the Desire S General forum: [DISCUSSION] HTC Update policy

    Will you please stop ?
Everyday i come here to check whether the update appeared somewhere in the world.

Instead of that i read tons of bullsh*t. You can write your emotions and impressions about HTC to your diary.

    thx

Will you all just shut up! Do all this by PM's if you must, but not here.

I cannot believe how much you guys are complaining about HTC. There isn't another mobile company providing updates any quicker compared to them. My flagship 2011 LG P990 was promised ICS in Q2, still nothing now and zero timelines are provided. You guys have it easy. Stop crying.
