Hi blkjack, and so many tnx for this new rom!

I have a few question about this:

How To Install SlimBean
Addons from [here] (REQUIRED, if you don't have already)

What are these Addons? Which ones i need, All of them? How can i install them? do i need to flash them, or they're simple apps to install later on rom?
Sorry but i come from Mimicry 1.4 and haven't flashed any rom after that , so i'm not confident with this, it just sounds new to me :p

Also, i really wish to help with bugfinding ( i already did help with 'ita' translation in mimicry, but i want to do better! ), so, do u have any suggestion to get logs efficiently?

Tnx in advance! :)

My pleasure :)

You missed the entire Addons section of the website though: http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/new-addons-menu
Check it out, it breaks down each package.

The simplest way is to just flash the Slim ROM and the AIO package. Grab the AIO Aroma package instead of regular AIO if you want to pick & choose through a GUI interface.

This r0x man! :D It was my only concern!
I like light roms, and i really hate ones that come up plenty of apps or extra-feats i don't want! I mean, if i want a certain app, i get it when I need it..

tnx again ^^

I'm having a bad time with download links apparently. I've updated the OP with the proper ones now.

viggle/shazam have mic issues at some point

I use viggle and at some point the mic stops working, also Shazam also gives a mic issue. I had this same issue on cn.fydor's ASOP rom as well. I have included a logcat of when it happens. A reboot fixes the issue for a bit.

Hrm I had already reverted to ILWT to make my phone more stable and last longer on batter (since mainly using it for tethering with my nexus and calls and what not)... but I'm missing the JB treatment so may be trying this lol. (Was on mimicry for the longest time).

---------- Post added at 07:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:16 PM ----------

PS: I'll let you know if my Dataswap/sdext enabler works on it.

---------- Post added at 07:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:19 PM ----------

DataSwap and SD-Ext appear to be working fine with my script on this rom.

Where do you find this kernel?

HERE
But you really shouldnt flash much anything else from this as many features are ROM dependent. HTCDreamOn and I will have a package of mods for this ROM soon with the gracious permission from blk_jack

OK FOUND THE LINK This is just the kernel, there are a few options and will continue to be supported by HTCDreamOn be sure you thank him for his great work, and keep an eye on his thread as new kernels are in the works!

Looked into this & it's hard to tell exactly (the log is huge), but it seems like viggle is triggering some system errors that I'm not familiar with. If you could grab a shorter log from Shazam then maybe I could look for common logs and go from there.

I'm noticing viber voip triggering system errors and then AudioPolicyManagerBase failing to run startInput, but I don't know offhand why that happens, if it's the cause of the issue or how to work around it.

First time I flashed this rom it was 240dpi, but now everytime i flash it i get 182dpi. Is it default density or something got messed up?

What about skip-track with volume when phone in sleep mode?
I can't flash a rom without that feature.. :D

You can find the full list of credits [here]
Of course a ridiculous amount of credit & thanks go to my fellow Andromadus team members (Flinny, fyodor, darkspadez, Flemmard) for all the incredible work they've done maintaining the device branches that the vision uses. Without their work none of this would be remotely possible.

Additional thanks to the testers in #mimicry: HTCDreamOn, bsmith, smurf, ermo, dkt, Sobek999, Ventricle, ustech, Quintasan, MissyVixen, slickorr, kanty2, pierre_ja, KaszpiR, and any other less vocal people I may have forgotten.

    Donations
I don't personally accept donations for ROM work (explained here). The SlimBean team, however, does, but in this case I would recommend that if you truly feel the need to show some monetary appreciation for this ROM that you donate to Flinny. He's put in the most work for making ROMs like this possible on the vision, plus he's a member of the SlimBean team, so show him some love!

    Andromadus SlimBean Notes

It's important to first start off by saying that this ROM is not an Official SlimBean release. Since the vision is so old, and the device branches such a departure from the ones SlimRoms maintains, it requires special commits and things that would make it very difficult to integrate with the rest of the codebase. Keeping that in mind, issue reports should be mentioned here in this thread or to myself personally.

Speaking of how old the vision is, though, that's a very important thing to remember when running this rom. A few notes on the processing power of this device in relation to JellyBean:

    • You may be limited by which apps you can run and how well they will run
    • Too many apps that use background processes will damper your experience with the ROM
All my testing so far has been on a somewhat minimal setup. Not too many widgets, no notoriously bad apps abusing wakelock and killing my battery and things have been quite pleasant. Coming from the S3/S4 I was prepared for a devastatingly slow experience and was surprised and delighted that that simply wasn't the case. That said, you may not have the same wonderful experience that I have on Andromadus SlimBean, but keep in mind that this ROM uses the Andromadus device branches and kernel, and as such will likely suffer from the same upstream issues.

Finally, if you are reporting issues, make sure you can reproduce it on a completely clean build and always include a logcat or last_kmsg for reboots. If possible try to reproduce the issue on Flinny's CM10.1/fyodor's AOSP builds. If you can pinpoint a specific issue on this ROM that isn't present on Flinny's or fyodor's, that goes a long way to getting it fixed quickly!

    Known Issues
    • EGL visual glitches may occur on landscape orientation change. They are minor, rare, and can be backed out of.

    Upcoming Features & Ideas
These are features and ideas mentioned in the thread that may be worth working on. If you have an idea of your own, please feel free to submit it and if you like an idea mentioned here, mentioning it may help change the priority and immediacy of including the feature.
    • Longpress power button when screen off for torch
    • You tell me!

    Quick comparision to cm10.1

[-] Noticeably slower - this ROM is slower than cm 10.1 (starting apps, loading apps, everything.. (seems like some processes stop responding and start all over).) Especially heavy apps are slower then on cm 10.1.
[-] A bit less free memory

There's a whooooole lot of ignorance going 'round the last few pages. I'm not sure how, but it seems that some members of this forum think that posting benchmarks or reports of restarts/slowdowns with zero logs are helpful or worth posting. That's not the case, and some of you guys need to realize something very important.

This ROM, Flinny's CM10.1 builds and Jelly Baby all use the exact same backend device code.

Not only that, but they also use the same kernel. The differences in features that Slim has don't have a substantial impact on memory use and have absolutely no effect on things like "app loading speed". The features we include from CM are often made even more efficient. The governors I've added to the Andromadus kernel MAY affect the speed of apps loading, since it's geared towards battery conservation over immediately jumping the clock speed, and IMHO you should not be overclocking past 1.2GHz as there likely will at some point be random reboots and of course excessive battery drain.

There are always people that "feel" certain things are happening, but in this case specifically it doesn't make sense since the backend is identical in all these ROMs. As you may or may not have noticed, most SlimBean features are superficial. The bigger features, like the NavBar or Pie don't use memory unless they're enabled. Hell, AOSP itself contains all the core navigation bar code.

I know this is XDA & sometimes it seems like common sense to make baseless comparison posts in development threads, but come on guys. Benchmark screenshots? My S4 destroys my S3 in benchmarks but has laggier animations/transitions and a boatload of other problems the S3 doesn't have. Android benchmarks prove nothing in actual use, which is why every dev is going to say that it's pointless to post them or use them as a point of reference for anything meaningful.

Please don't clutter up this thread with opinions that have no quantifiable measurement. If you're going to report "issues" you need to respect my wishes in the OP and include in those posts the required information/logs/debugging info. It's a development thread -- be constructive with your feedback and save your chatter for some post in General. If you want to help improve the ROM, you need to provide useful feedback to me.

I hate making these posts because everything I'm mentioning is common sense and I apologize to the majority of you guys since you already know and respect what I've just posted about and really I'm just adding more clutter myself by having to explain it to other less informed individuals.

To upgrade, simply "dirty" flash build 6.2 over build 6. Make sure you have a backup just in case, since dirty flashing can be unpredictable.

Download the new Gapps upgrade package for build 6.x [here]

Optional download: Guhl's permissions spoofing framework (read more) -- this is a flashable zip that requires build 6.2.
It includes the PFF-Test, PFF-GPSPath and PFF-AppSettings apps linked in his thread. Download from [here] [mirror]
