AT YOUR OWN RISK

Flash the "Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip" directly in stock recovery 3e, no need to cwm:

How to do that?
- Download the Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip
- I will create Universal Root folder (Optional)
- Put the created folder at your External Micro SDcard
- Boot to recovery (Hold Power+Volume Up)

In official stock recovery 3e:
- Use Volume button to navigate to apply update from external storage.
- After you choose apply update from external storage.
- Press Power button to enter.
- Volume button to navigate to the Universal Root folder.
- Choose Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip
- Press Power button.
- Flashing begin.

Once done
- Navigate to ../ and press Power button
- navigate again to ../ and press power button
- and reboot system now

Your device will be rebooted and enjoy your rooted ICS. No cwm recovery

To install CWM Recovery. I use Mobile Odin.

- Download Locerra's cwm recovery. Im on P6800 and using Locerra's recovery v5.5.0.4: HERE or ALL Tab 7.7 latest cwm recovery 6.0.1.1: HERE or 6.0.1.9 by aorth: HERE
- Once download, extract it and it will be recovery.img
- Put it in Internal or External SDcard (Up to you, which convenience for you)
- Launch Mobile Odin
- Choose Open file and choose the location where you put it earlier
- Choose the recovery.img
- Flash firmware

Note: There will be POP UP window indicated
CONTINUE AT YOUR ON RISK - Click Countinue
- Done

Hello,

Does this mean that the stock recovery is not checking the zip's file signature (big security flaw)? or that you got the Samsung private key to sign that file?

There is no need to flash a modified SuperSU package - Chainfire's original unmodified release will work just fine.

The reason is that for some reason, some Samsung stock recoveries allow flashing of ZIPs signed with testkeys. Nearly all ICS recoveries for Exynos 4210 devices supported this, and I think (but I'm not sure), garyd9's original CWM implementation for the Tab 7 Plus used this approach for installation, so it sounds like Tab 7 Plus/7.7 HC recoveries also allowed testkeys-signed packages.

ICS for the Note 10.1 does NOT permit testkeys-signed packages, same for I9300 to my knowledge.

Noted...and thanks very much of your input.

This method so far working for P6800, P6810 & N7000.

There are more method about it. Try take a look at the original post for few other steps, here: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=28178105

im assuming this has no chance of working for the galaxy player 4.2 with gingerbread on it will it?

You can try and feedback...
If it failed it will abort.

Yeah, it's pretty low-risk. Either it works, or it aborts and does nothing. I9100 and I777 ICS will also allow it.
