Quick questions (if answer would be related to non-stock kernel please ignore):
- with 2.9 the option to adjust ringtone/notification volume separately which was really, really useful for me is gone. It was there with 2.8, was not there with 2.5 if I remember right. Is it really gone or doe I have to look elsewhere (searched thread, no result)?
- I'm still quite new to ICS and cannot find an option to reduce vibration intensity or duration for haptic feedback (no search, question just quickly added here). Do I have to look elsewhere?

For the second question; from what I read the vibration-level can't be changed yet in ICS.

vibration intensy of keayboard can be change in advanced keyboard settings... other than that i've not seen a way to change other vibrations on any ics rom

People using slim with semaphore please share your settings. I am aiming for better battery life instead of performance. Which governor do you use, undervolting, memory settings?

this release does not work

i had GB, 2.3.6 and from CWM i tried to flash this slim version (2.9).
i did wipe of all data and only then flashed but when the phone started i got a message saying "encryption unsuccessful".
nothing help, no re-flash, no factory wipe, nothing.
this version is not good.

Hi krarvind,
Thanks a lot for Slim ICS. I support your idea of having "slim" ROM and let the users themselves add what they want.
My feedback for v2.9 is the same as mialwe below about the option to adjust ringtone & notification volume separately. In my opinion, it is better to keep this feature instead of combine them together.
Any plan to use the latest source of ICS, be it 4.0.4 or 4.0.5?
Keep up the good works! Thank you.

trust me, i went over those posts and did exactly as it said. i am not sure it's this rom fault, but clearly when a rom cannot be flashed and there is an error after booting - it's a problematic rom.

I'd personally choose to trust hundreds of happy users of this ROM and myself. But really, try to go through the process again and see what could possibly wrong. Share in great details what you did, and most of us here would be more than glad to help you.

Trust us and this ROM, you'd be happy to use it.

krarvind,

Will you release the flashable zips for faceunlock for our super-crappy ROM? :)

I would like to try those before I send this phone through the window, as I can't stand these crappy ROM's you people do in your free time.

Bastards. Giving us for free what samsung didn't bother to give us.

We really do hate the devs.

(hope everyone sees the ironic mode...)

i don't think i ever said it's crap, i don't think so.
it's just not working, can't get passed the boot.
and about the wipe, come on.
i did all the wipes possible, data, cache, dalvik, and i even used some scripts created just for cleaning the phone and make it ready to flash.
nothing worked.

@krarvind,

I've something for you: Aroma installer.
I think you might use it on the following updates.

---------- Post added at 01:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:08 PM ----------

Let me guess... You had it turned off?

Or on airplane mode and made no calls / sms? Oh, wait! You had no sim-card and didn't use it at all? :D ;)

EDIT: Btw, in your signature, you misspelled "thing", writing "think" instead. Should be read: "If a thing is worth doing at all it's worth doing well". ;)

Bingo!! You are a genious. :)

Update from 2.8 to 2.9

Just dalvic/cahce wipe and flashing first base and then essentials, right? No factory/data wipe needed, correct?
Cheers, mates!

    Slim ICS v2.7 - Stable
    IMPORTANT NOTE: :
Starting with 2.7 I am forming a common base for galaxy variants, so every user needs to flash the Slim_ICS_Base_2.7 and their device essentials, so a I9000 user has to flash the Slim_ICS_2.7_I9000_Essentials as well, if you don't your system won't boot. I am doing this so i can make it easier on my side and allow users of vibrant and captivate to become Slim.

    • Smaller but common base for galaxy S variant phones
    • Modded Market where paid apps work ( if it doesn't, try this, manually push it in system/app, set permissions, reboot)
    • Modem provided in Essentials - it will leave your modem alone if there is one already.
    • Introducing ASS ( Advanced Slim Settings) - thanks to Roman and AOKP team
      • Modify Notification Widgets
      • Adjust CPU frequency
      • Change battery style

      • Change LCD density
      • Allow 180 degree rotation
      • Custom Carrier Label
      • Back button to kill apps

    Slim_ICS_2.7_Mirror

    Market Workaround at 182 DPI:

    • Use this Vending.apk if the inbuilt one doesn't allow paid apps.

      or
    • Change to 240 dpi, reboot, clear market cache, and verify that all apps are seen ( if you can't see any at 182 dpi), then change it to 182 dpi and don't clear cache. All apps will show up until you clear cache next time.
      or
    • Buy LCD Density Modder Pro. Easily allows to change DPI and downloads a modded multi dpi marketplace.
