OP: I'm a network administrator and someone showed me this and I don't understand how it works.. how do I prevent people from doing this sort of thing on my network? Pretty sure this is on the same lines as WifiKill if I'm correct? The device use arp and pretends to be the router?

I've been struggling with this issue for a while myself. By no means am I a network admin but when working with my old high school for a few months I discovered all the kids with laptops were running Cain to get a few odd bits of data sent their way. Never figured out how to stop it.

I'm a server admin and not a security admin, though I do various security testing now and then but it appears these kind of apps uses arp spoofing- man in the middle type attacks to send arp broadcasts/ packets to re route traffic. You can mitigate this by installing anti arp type software on your OS or your hardware (routers) should come pre installed with this.

I tried using face sniff- app related to this at my university's network. They appear to block arp spoofing pretty well.

Also to the developer it would be great if you implement SSL strip- face sniff had this option! I wanna prank people that are using Facebook lol. Imagine changing someones Facebook profile pic

Awesome app.. Tested it on my gf's iPhone.. As soon as I downloaded it I downloaded the APK to my PC and backed it up with Titanium Backup just in case it's deleted from the market..

Great app!

One question : is it easy to reverse the "hacks" you made ?

Tap stop and when the victim's browser is refreshed(assuming cached browser files do not show up) he/ she would be able to continue normally. Also you need to force close the app (on my rom holding back key closes it) so it doesn't continue to run in the background.

I installed this app and tried a couple of things - they worked well. However, my battery plummeted from around 90% to 0% in about 90 minutes. During that time I checked and the app was still running, but forcing it to close didn't change anything. I then froze it (using Titanium) and restarted. This didn't stop it either.

Based on my experience I would not recommend installing this app to anyone. In fact, I'd strongly advise against it.

atm faced up with this issue "a MAJOR CPU hog AFTER it has been closed. I understand it using a large amount of CPU during its activity.. but after i exit it continues to keep CPU at 100% until i reboot... "" but if you want to use this app and dont want to have this issue- you will need to make reboots after you have used that app.

I saw this on the market about 3 weeks ago... I think it's tremendous fun.

I usually have to be using a laptop booted with backtrack to do this stuff (and backtrack on the Android needs 3GB on your SD card).

Although I have not attempted it, I remember thinking when I downloaded it that it would certainly provide an afternoon of fun on a rainy Sunday at Starbucks. I did however take it to a small local coffee shop where I know everyone and tried it, but it had login portal based access to the internet to protect it from bad guys hacking/stealing other people's laptops. I didn't think it would matter since it is ARP based, but the portal must encrypt the connection between the AP and the laptops.

So I have only used it once. I was at a friend's house and he was using his laptop and I was on my phone (both using his wifi) watching TV. As nonchalantly as possible and while still talking with him (so as to make him think I was not doing much with my phone except looking up movie trivia or on Google+) I redirected all his browser requests to pornhub.com. In about a minute he went nuts trying to figure out why his internet was "f*cked up". I was losing it as well....I even had to leave the room because I was trying so hard not to laugh. After he had enough torment, I FC the app. It went back to normal and finally told him what I did. He was astonished, and I tried to explain to him how it worked... He knows I am into pen-testing, etc., so he half-heartedly listened. But when I told him it was just an Android app, he said "cool!! Can I get it on my iPhone?"

    Yeah...check the App Store.

If you download it might me cool to mirror the APK. I predict this is removed within 2 days by Google :(

It doesn't work for me. And I also had the huge cpu usage after closing the app until I restarted the phone.

hmmm it is only for ics and not for all phones it is working
