ok im on stock gb rooted s-on locked bootloader i renamed file to PH85IMG.zip dropped it on root of sd card and still nothing happens wen i boot into the bootloader....tried several times....really wanting ics but cant seem to figure out why it wont work....any help is much appreciated ive read EVERY THREAD forum tips watevers here ive read...plz help thanx!!

PH185IMG.ZIP Just be sure file extensions are not hidden so that you don't make the common mistake of actually naming the file PH185IMG.ZIP.ZIP

If you are on stock GB with S-ON and LOCKED bootloader, why not just unroot and check for updates and install the Official OTA?!
Once that is installed I would reboot once and then do a factory Reset, and you are on official clean ICS :)

You might have to flash stock recovery as well if you have something else running such as CWM recovery or 4EXT recovery.

Would I b able to root on official ota Ics tho? That's all I'm worried about....if I can get s off and root and all the goodness of flashing then I'll do that...also a reason y I haven't done the official ota is because I know my wifi hot spot is Gna charge me if I use it Wen it's free right now....

i pushed the ICS OTA then i proceeded with the rooted method. i didnt s-off cause there wasnt really a need for it at the moment. well not for me at least and im with tmo.

this is the guide i followed. its the one binary posted. i havent tried hansoons method cause im used to doing everything manually since the mytouch 3g days lol.

oh and when you unlock bootloader and u recieve the email from HTC with the unlock file, KEEP THAT EMAIL, cause it comes in handy to be able to click the link incase u forget the steps. you'll know what i mean once you have to relock bootloader and unlock again. so take my advice, just keep that email. theres a flagging option for all emails, well mostly, so flag it so its always on top.

Overheats with horrible battery life

I have s-on so i followed instructions for flashing this ROM and it works great except it says my software number is 2.14.531.1 710RD and now my battery dies significantly faster and i cant do anything on my phone without the battery overheating. Any ideas?

It didn't flash it properly. Try flashing it again. Be sure to check the file size and md5 sum.

    Checked the package, only system and recovery images changed, everything else, even the radio, is exactly the same.
    I have no idea how to unpack the recovery image, so I wasn't able to diff it, but chances are all that changed is the package signature.

    The framework changes are also, most likely, only due to signature update (note cwcerts and otacerts changed, this happens normally between updated builds, so it's nothing major).
    Lib changes are most likely related to the apps that were changed. I could open up the apps and diff them individually to see what changed, but I don't feel like it.
    From what I know for sure, skin apps changed (blue sky and burgundy at system/app, default HTC skin somewhere else, where is it now? I haven't perused through HTC's framework since the Hero), possibly to add the aforementioned camera dial indicators.
    QXDM2SD changed, it's a logging app. I think it's related to Smith/Carrier IQ.
    Settings and it's provider changed, possibly something with NFC settings since NFC app also changed.
    In build prop ipv6 capability on telephony was disabled.
    Debuggered changed (used for log collection).
    Some web libraries changed, and also a ril (radio) library.
    It's not a change too major or different to the previous one, just bug fixes. If the current build doesn't bother you, you might not have to update at all.

    Actually, these guys are some of the most helpful people I know on XDA. :) You will get the help you need, only after you have demonstrated that you have first tried to help yourself. ;) To clear up any confusion, XDA is not a help site, its a developer's site. XDA doesn't exist to cater to noobs. ;) As others have already stated: read, read, read...then read some more. ;)

    PS: (this goes for everyone), let's not get into a flame war. It serves no purpose, and takes away from the originsl purpose of this thread. If you all need to hash things out, take it to PM. ;) Please don't make me come back here and crack the whip! :D
