I like the rom but it won't auto restore my apps from google? Also could it be possible to put an option to adjust the menu transparency? Sometimes it seems too transparent for my taste.

I've tried to use two VPN apps. One is TunnelBear, the other is from VPN Unlimited. Neither works. Are there known issues with this ROM and VPNs?

Thanks in advance, and THANK YOU to elliwigy for this ROM

is anyone else having issues with adAway getting stuck at applying hosts? I found earlier in this thread to uninstall and reinstall a different version but I cannot even uninstall it. In the Application Manager I only get the choice to stop it.

Edit: Figured it out. Had to remount system and delete the adblock apk, then reinstall with the newest one.

the hotspot can be activated through the settings.. you cant activate toggles in settings youd need to make some edits or find a flashable zip to add the toggles

Hate to keep blowing up this thread, but I'd love to have the wifi tether toggle and flashlight toggle. You mentioned earlier there was a flashable zip "Flashlight & Hotspot Toggles.zip". Would that work with the latest version? Where may I find it? If there isn't one, you mentioned to make some edits to settings, what settings would that be?

Thanks for your work! Loving how lean this rom is. I'm coming from Cyanogenmod 11 on my S3 so you can imagine how much I disliked the stock S5. If only Verizon/Att didn't lock the bootloaders...

You need to grab vpndialogs.apk from a stock rom and install that then VPN clients will work again.

I would like to make a request to elliwigy to make the apk from the phone's files available. I don't know how to extract the file from a .img file and I'm very leery of just downloading this apk from the first link that pops up on a Google search, both because it could be malicious and it might not be compatible with our phone.

Alternatively, if someone can explain how to pull the file out of a .img file I'm more than willing to try.

Thanks in advance

An easier/lazy way but I recommend is to download power toggles, the blue icons on this pictures are the ones you're talking about, its so easy and simple.

Can I flash the NI2 firmware on your current ROM or will that break stuff?

    EXTREME SYNDICATE LOLLIPOP STYLE!

    WARNING
This ROM is not for the faint of heart. It is extremely debloated! I do not accept requests to add stuff back into the ROM. However, please post in here or the Q&A thread for this ROM and I am sure there are some experienced devs that could help you with your needs!

    Features:
    -Rooted
    -Odexed and Deodexed versions available!
    -Extremely Debloated
    -Removed Verizon splash screen
    -Removed Samsung Keyboard
    -Added Google L Keyboard
    -Removed boot sound
-Baked in MODS from Jrkruse (v4+ does not have his mods)
-I'm sure I'm missing some things as well as there is more to come! This is the initial release for L

    -NCG Kernel

    -Do standard wipes as usual
    -Flash ROM.zip to stock slot
-PRESS HOME AFTER FLASH AND THEN REBOOT AND SELECT DOWNLOAD MODE
-Put OA8 Kernel in AP Slot in ODIN and flash to device and reboot!
-KEEP IN MIND, DEODEX WILL TAKE SOME TIME (MAYBE 10 MINUTES) FOR THE FIRST BOOT ONLY
    -ENJOY

Coming from Muniz_ri's stock rooted OA8:
-Download ROM.zip and put it in storage on phone
-Download NK2/OA8 Kernel's and put on PC
-Put NK2 Kernel in AP Slot in ODIN and flash it (YOU WILL NEED TO PRESS RECOVERY OPTION FOR SS AS SOON AS YOU SEE IT)
-You should be in SS recovery now, backup if you must!
-Do standard wipes and then flash the ROM.zip to stock slot
-After ROM flash, press HOME and then REBOOT and select DOWNLOAD MODE
-Put OA8 Kernel in AP Slot in ODIN and press Start (DEODEX WILL TAKE ~10MINUTES ON FIRST BOOT ONLY)
    -ENJOY
    Coming from Stock (UNROOTED) OA8:

-Download NK2 Kernel and OA8 Kernel and NCG Kernel and put on PC
-Put NK2 Full Stock TAR in AP Slot in ODIN and flash it
-Once phone boots into stock NK2, put NCG Kernel in AP Slot in ODIN and press Start
-Once it boots, install and run TowelRoot.apk and make it rain! Then install Busybox (I use Busybox Installer) from the play store and then install Safestrap.apk and once installed open it and Install Recovery
-At this point you should be able to boot into SS Recovery and do your normal wipes and make a backup if you must!
-Flash ROM.zip to stock slot, press HOME and then REBOOT and select DOWNLOAD MODE
-Flash OA8 Kernel in AP Slot in ODIN (AGAIN, DEODEX VERSION WILL TAKE UPWARDS OF 10 MINUTES ON FIRST BOOT ONLY)

    v1.2 7/13/2014 ~509mb
-Remove Download Booster to make native hotspot work again. (You can follow the steps to make download booster work in that thread.)
    -Remove more bloat!
-Change ro.build.version.codename=L to ro.build.version.codename=REL in build.prop to fix some compatibility issues with some apk's. Also, there wasn't much of a difference at all in appearance.
-Add "Now Browser" with Material Look. This browser can be downloaded from the Play Store as well. The reason is because it is less than 200kb in size and works wonders!
-Add Adobe Flash Player (to make flash videos work in browser.)
-Add Adaway (to remove pesky ads from websites and apk's.)
-Add Fly-On Mod/Tweaks into ROM. (I have tested on my device for a day now and it really does help!) Will be added once I get permission from the creator of the MOD.
    -Mod includes the following:
    ~Full Memory Management
~Linux kernel tweaks and improvements for better performance and battery life
~Entropy Generator Engine to reduce lags
~Zipalign apps in /system and /data every 48hrs to help reduce RAM usage
~SQLite optimizations and faster database access
~CPU Governors tweaks and improvements for better performance and battery life
    ~Increased SD Card read-ahead cache to 2048
    ~Ad Blocking (paired with Adaway)
    ~Build.prop tweaks and improvements
~Cleans log files and tombstones on every boot
~Many other tweaks for better performance and battery life!
-Possible am going to replace the Android L launcher with a themed Nova Launcher (is lighter than Android L launcher and more themed with more options overall.)

    v1.1: 7/5/2014
-Added download booster (need to flash Slym Hydes db toggle AFTER first boot or follow instruction from original MOD post to turn it on with a shortcut)
-Added Viper4Android (Open app after install, install driver then reboot and enjoy better audio!)
    -Removed some more bloat!

    v1.0:
    Initial Release

    To Do List:

-Possibly some more debloating (I know there are some Lib files I can remove)
-Theme (WIP, I just barely had time to dive in to it after making v1.2 of the ROM but so far just have all the tools necessary and need to find time outside of work to start diving in)
Wierd issue with delay in calls coming in (Should be fixed in v1.2, Let me know if there is still a lag)

I third this. I had to stop running his roms because so much was removed that the phone would just freeze or take forever to do anything.

odd.. it doesnt freeze or lag for me.. this rom has never been for the faint of heart.. i never use a camera so to me a camera is not 'essential" among other things..

to me essential is a rom that boots fine and runs..

as said before, if you dont want to take the time to put what you want on the phone and truely customize it to your liking then you should install a different rom.

With that being said, I will not be updating the rom any longer since it appears debloating more is not what people want..

Its just as difficult to get a stock based rom and debloat it yourself and then customize it but to each their own..

I do not have the time or patience to continue.. work is crazy and when I debloat the rom people complain about what is not on the rom. I end up uploading apks and trying to please everyone which defeats the purpose of the rom and takes the fun out of customizing your phone the way you want it.

    Happy Romming people!

    Add-Ons:

These add-ons are for Lollipop builds and need to be flashed in SafeStrap Recovery either immediately after the ROM is flashed or by these instructions if you are already on Lollipop:
    1) Download the add-on/s you are wanting to flash and put it on your ext-sd or internal sd storage
    2) Odin a 4.4.x kernel to get into Safestrap Recovery
    3) Flash the add-on/s as you would normally flash anything in SafeStrap
    4) Press home, then reboot and select download mode
    5) Odin the stock OA8 Kernel only and reboot
    6) Enjoy!

    An update..

I was able to take an existing theme and modify it to work on this ROM.. Only thing left for me to work on is that I keep getting an incallui.apk fc when using the phone.. I believe I know how to fix it however!

With it to work I had to remove the call record mod for now until I manually add it..

The theme will require to be flashed right after ROM until I have time to fully incorporate it.. With that being said, the colors will be black and white. This should also increase battery life as dark colors tend to do so!

The name will be posted once I get the kinks out and am uploading the ROM!

Edit: I also added back stock SMS per request since 8sms is not themed to match ROM.
