On miui 1.4.29 streaming will start and after three seconds will kick back out to the que.

On miui 1.5.19? (Last weeks inspire build) the Same will happen as above.

On rcmix's kingdom port the app will stream sound but with a black screen.

On android rev 5.1.4 the app will stream sound but with a grey screen.

Each build was flashed with a full a full wipe on all partitions and has had the newest version of flash installed. I have tried both versions of the API with wiping cache and dalvik between each install with a couple rebooted. I have not done the build.prop edits but don't think they apply as I don't get error messages, just simply doesn't stream video.

Could you send my any logcats of those?

Speaking of, any non-approved devices that work and don't work properly, could you guys send me logcats? Especially OG Droids and SGS Varients. I'm working with my N1 and Inspire 4G (DHD) and have noticed the DHD is misreading the video stream due to trying to decode with 720p and the N1 is decoding with h264. Check out the Netflix APK port over in the Inspire Applications and themes thread for more info.

Nook Color (still running 2.1) says problem parsing file when running the hacked netflix.apk

Galaxy S 4G says can't connect to netflix servers when running the hacked netflix app

Droid X 2.2 stock rooted looks like it starts to buffer, then dumps me back to the main netflix app page.

I don't understand why the DX is an issue when others report it working.

Doesn't work on stock Fascinate with Flash 10.3.

Update: with the modified APK, I now am able to log in and see my Queue, but when I try to stream movies, I get a message about not being able to reach
the Netflix service. ...it's so close I can almost taste it.

I keep getting an invalid username or password at the log in screen. I am certain everything is correct because I can sign in on the site.

The Netflix Mod 2 APK file doesn't work on my droid x. It starts and then returns me back to the main page before it starts playing.

But, netflix-devicecheck-disabled.apk does work on my droid x.

And I don't get any errors when opening it either.

Galaxy S 4G still says can't reach netflix servers though. Any possible fix for that?

This is amazing. Thank you!

The first apk looked like it was going to stream after I would select a show. But would just bounce me back to the show list each time. This second apk when I select a show I get the nextflix service unavailable message.

When you say work or fail, indicate which .apk. There are at least 3 in this thread right now.

The "Netflix Mod 2" was really created for phones that were crashing at login. In order to stop the crash, I had to "hard code" the device library file which for some phones that were streaming fine is probably not the right file. If the First apk works fine on your phone, stick with that one, the newer apk would really provide no extra benefit to a previously streaming phone.

The streaming issues are probably do to the fact that the phones that non-supported 2.2 phones don't have the right OMX lib files. I don't know how to solve that at this point, I'm sure someone smarter then me will probably think of a way to fix/patch it.

On a side note , I'm not sure I stated this clearly before, but with the two different apk files I provided the build.prop does not need to be modified and the phones doesn't need root in order for Netflix to function.

Not working on

I've used both the native apk and the device-check-disabled apk without any success.

Tried to get it working through changing build.prop, to recently find out that it's possibly not a issue with build.prop.

I've tried changing the ro.product.model= and ro.product.manufacturer=
to Nexus One,HTC and Nexus S,samsung to no avail.

I even tried to change the other fields to the following:
ro.product.model=Nexus One
ro.product.brand=google
ro.product.name=passion
ro.product.device=passion
ro.product.board=mahimahi
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC

Just to save the trouble for anyone about to try the steps above to the build.prop on a CM7 stable G2.

the "devicecheck-disabled" version is working for me on the atrix, stock with latest software update. picture quality looks like an old tv with the tube going out. colors are out of wack but audio and framerate is good.

    The attached files are modified versions of the stock market V1.3
    I have edited some xml files to add screen rotation while browsing or streaming. I have also altered the loading screens to GREEN, ORANGE, PINK, and BLUE, along with keeping the Netflix RED. The icons are created by me and correspond to the color of the loading screens. Nothing else has been touched.

    The current 'HD' Netflix apps floating around xda have been proven to be nothing more than some WM Codec files copied and pasted into an android app. It was proven that they provide NO added functionality and that no changes to the app were actually made [besides rotation]. Use the 'HD' apps at your own risk, and if you have extra space to spare.

    Netflix will soon actually support 1080p streaming!

    For those who had to modify their build.prop to get Netflix to work correctly, try using this apk file instead of modifying your build.prop. You may get a date and time error, just got back into the Netflix app and you should be OK. I've disabled the device check in the apk.

    If the list says it works, it could be any one of these apks. It is too much to list it out for every device and ROM:

    When browsing your que and any movies, by default you are stuck with portrait mode. When streaming you are stuck in landscape mode.

    Enabled rotation means when you turn your phone while browsing/streaming, the app will change its orientation. i.e. browse in landscape stream in portrait.

    These first three are the files from the first post: I have only enabled rotation in them. Everything else is exactly as it was.

    Thanks to ften for mod-2 and devicecheck disabled versions and thanks to skyjedi for the original.
