yankee minaj, you are good to go. But you gotta understand but you are doing. The Hack Kit works flawlessly but needs you to provide a clean environment and run the connectivity checks.

If you are not sure bout it...take some more time to learn and do some research.

Thanks for the help, I had a friend over who had T-Mobile and I asked him If I could try his sim and it worked nicely thankfully.

Bootable linux is the best path to update.

Hello everyone, I spent too much time pissing around with the windows install and decided to do the linux because window just would not see the phone and was seriously pissing me off.

This is what worked for me.

1. Burn Linux CD from link given
2. Boot to Linux go to http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=952352 and download the file needed to start the root process. It downloads it to the home folder and you can just unzip it in there.
3. Get root on the linux os "sudo su" then enter
4. Change permissions chmod 777 hack-ace.sh
5. Plug phone in with having read the instructions before.
6. ./hack-ace.sh
7. Don't touch anything here is the output you will see.
8. Give money to the EFF, I did.

The Ace Hack kit saved my bacon today. I had a corrupted cache...nothing would wipe the cache. I decided it was time to go back to S-ON. I used the kit to go completely back , then went back to S-off without no issues. :good::good:

Hi. Am reading through the forums and effen manual but not sure if I am reading it right. So when we use the Hackkit, it will install stock AT&T GB rooted on our Inspire 4G devices? Anyway to get the Desire HD stock (and then install the AT&T radio afterward using the options in Hackkit)? I ask b/c as I understand it since the Inspire 4G is simply the US version of the Desire HD, and the Desire HD may be getting ICS officially, would we be able to get that too? I am completely new to HTC and Sense but hear that it is great so want to make sure I install the latest build if I can. Thanks.

The hack kit will give you root access to your device and provide a recovery boot so you can flash any rom to it. You can then flash a custom rom that has ICS.

It's supposed to be implemented by pressing the report button and allowing the Mod team to do their job instead of taking matters in our own hand.

I did apologize in public and stand behind my apology. I will not continue with what seems to be an scape of your frustrations on newbies taken on me. I do believe that the new ones need to read and educate themselves before even thinking about posting, so to an extent, support your cause but not your delivery.
This will be my last post regarding this incident.
In another note...if you are so fed up with the way things are being done here and firmly believe that they will not get better with characters like me being here, then it will be me the one urging you to really think about your future here at XDA. I strongly believe that if someone is to upset that that person needs to insult others, then it may be time to take a breather and quit talking for a bit.
