what is a difference between V10A and V10B ?

This is my first smartphone. Maybe is just me, but I think V10B is better by power drain and speed.

Currently I am on "stock" V10B + root + clocworkmod + Nova1 kernel + antonio1475's Gingerbread statusbar. In this configuration, it seems that battery life is decreased compared with simple V10B, but now I'm happy enough with it. but... again, ...maybe is just me.

That'll be my next step.

A recovery with ext4 support and working ADB.
I could really do it faster if only xantaro and unclecracker gave me their recovery source (I'm too lazy to set up the BoardConfig).

That really sounds amazing. Is there anything we can do about the recovery source, or you will ask them?

And thanks for the framework, I really might use it.
I guess you are talking about Gingerbread theme framework. At the moment is only the statusbar and notification area, because that's what the two guys asked for, and I haven't updated it with the full environment (popups, buttons, etc) because I'm not using it and I'm away from home. But if you ask, I will make the full Gingerbread UI framework when I get back home (in 4 days or so).

By the way, do you guys think V10B is better than V10A?

Right now I'm using Pays-ROM (until I can make nandroid backups again, although I think I should be able to do it now with this ROM, but I cannot). I already lost my NOVA v1 because couldn't do backup before testing Pays-ROM. I will wait for the new recovery with ext4 support :) With experimental NOVA kernel (Wifi didn't work coming from NOVA, so...). Pays ROM is based in 10B, and the screen response is really better (in nova was already good, but now it's better), and battery seems to last a bit longer.

:)

Thanks for the recovery, in advance ;-)

There cant be enough code-sharing - maybe you could help out someone who will port cyanogenmod...

And about the original roms - V10A is really bad, V10B may be slightly better, but V10C compared to the first drafts is really - OK. Not more. Accu life is better, lags are much better (means gone - if you use another launcher - GO Launcher recommended).

With V10B you'll miss calls - no notifications sometimes :-( (called myself to prove it - caller hears "ringtone" but phone is silent)

Again - Thanks for your work!

80% that was fast dude... can't wait for your beta. btw with 1900+ quadrant score should i expect major performance improvement? which did you tweak most? I/O, cpu, mem or graphics (based on quadrant test) ? imo I/O performance was good enough with your custom kernel.

because 11 series are all carrier/branded type... not compatible with many regions. like Nova v1 is using 10a branded, some users reported they have difficulty for setting up APN, dunno 'cause i did not have a prob with that. maybe noejn can explain. :)

Well it was easy to set up the device config so I already have CWM 4.x working but:

1. I set up the UMS path but usb mount still doesn't work.
2. I confirmed adb service is starting and should be working but it does not.
3. After all ext4 support isn't just editing the recovery.fstab.

Since I'm new to recoveries and I don't have much time to dwell on this, I'll postpone it.

I'll try to finish Nova v2 today or tomorrow since I'm going for some days off (mini-vacations) already this week.

But does your recovery do what the 3.2 did + ext4 support for backup? If so, you could publish it so we can make backups for testing NOVA 2. If recovery is stable, of course (adb and usb didn't work neither, so it's already an improvement).

Waiting for NOVA 2! :)

Tomorrow I'll release it.

I did many, many changes.
I just hope I didn't **** it up but hey, I don't expect it to work flawlessly at first.

Nah it's okay man. It was the first version... if I may to suggest, you should call it BETA first and give us a trial so we can tell you any bugs, take any feedback and make fixes. Release the beta fix until most of us satisfied and you can release the final version. It gives you more time and advantange to develop next one. Not like v1 some of users still complain even trashing (no offense). Just a suggestion man and I really like to buy you a beer or two as soon as possible after my card approved.

Thanx noejn for your hardwork.

woohoo! really grateful that you put effort on the p970! with this performance increase, will it be able to play higher definition video? e.g. 480p on youtube?

    Version 8 [31/8/2011]
    ~~~
    A nova (plural novae) is a cataclysmic nuclear explosion caused by the accretion of hydrogen on to the surface of a white dwarf star, which ignites and starts nuclear fusion in a runaway manner. Novae are not to be confused with supernovae or luminous red novae.
    Nova (click it for trivia!) is a ROM for Optimus Black which aims to replace the stock ROM and give you what stock doesn't: minimalism and speed. Any LG and OEM trace has been reduced to a minimum and it has been significantly improved and optimized while keeping the most bugfree as possible. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I have coming up with it.
    A wipe is required when first flashing Nova, however, unless otherwise stated, no wipe is needed to upgrade between versions.
    1. Download nova-xxx.zip to your sdcard storage on your OB
    2. [Optional] Check nova-xxx.zip's Md5 to check if your download copy is corrupted
    3. Boot into CWM Recovery through whatever method you choose (anreboot, terminal, ...)
    4. [First flash only] Use the volume keys and power button to select Wipe Data
    5. Select Install Zip from SD Card
    6. Find the nova-xxx.zip file you downloaded earlier
    7. Scroll through all the No's and hit Yes, install nova-xxx.zip
    8. Wait for the installation to finish
    9. Select Reboot
    10. After the long initial reboot, reboot a second time and you're all set
    Quick guidelines:
    - If UI is very slow after 2 minutes, reflash. If home button doesn't work, reflash.
    - Remember to reboot after the first long boot (applies some tweaks).
    - Check "known issues" and "FAQ" before posting.
    forward.png
    Q. If I flash a firmware after flashing Nova, I can't install applications! why?
    A. http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1212370
    forward.png
    Q. I miss some stock applications, how can I have them back?
    tick.png
    A. Use Application Injector in Nova Script (terminal app > 'su' > 'nova')
    forward.png
    Q. I'm getting problems with superuser (root) and reboot doesn't fix it, help!
    tick.png
    A. Use this: http://www.multiupload.com/VRD7JFXLA2 - instructions inside.
    forward.png
    Q. It seems it's a bit laggy sometimes, what can I do to improve this?
    tick.png
    A. You might want to try disable BPO and d2u in misc options @ nova script to see if it solves your problem. Also keep in mind that if you have too low voltages for the frequencies, one of the most evident signs will be lag.
    forward.png
    Q. I'm having problems with market! Errors and what nots. Why?
    tick.png
    A. Reboot. Didn't work? Clear its data in settings. Didn't work? Reflash and sign in google acount before running market.
    Ah y, nvm.
    Kernel will work with stock.
    An easy solution would be to include in the android system a button-pressed-check on startup (maybe the "G"-Button) and execute a reboot recovery from there (prior to "really" startup the system).
    So you would have a save recovery if the rom is "basically" working.
    Easier said than done but I'll look into it.
    It can't be in the system but it might be possible on the ramdisk.
