Hi, i have Sony Xperia S 4.0.4 Bulid Number 6.1.A.0.453
and it's on the stock rom
and had installed the Update Services and the PC Companion but when i try to use this tool i had a problem and that is
"adb server is out of date. killing...
* failed to start daemon *
error : unknown host services

i don't know what the problem and sorry if this problem is already been on someones device and you solve it but try to search in this thread and nothing came in my hand so if there is any solution to this problem or if anything that i do it wrong please tell me, thank you
Why is there an existing ADB server running? Do you have FlashTool or another Android program running? This tool has been confirmed working on the latest Xperia S firmware.

What build/version?
There's another thread specifically for Xperia Tablet S: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=33440360#post33440360

can someone tell me if this works un my brand new XPERIA MIRO aka st23i?thanks.:p
Instead of asking and waiting hours/days for a reply, download the tool and run it yourself.

Does not work on the latest firmware update (version 7.0.A.3.195) on the Xperia T :(

Any news on an updated version of this tool?
Anything I can do to help with figuring out why it isn't working with this firmware? Attached is a logcat from when I tried to actually run the RootMe backup file on the Xperia T not sure if it helps but hope it does. If not let me know what else I can get to troubleshoot.

Just to clarify, to flash:

1. We should run the batch file from cmd in administrator mode?
2. We should run in compatability mode?
3. We should set the USB connection to charge only and not MTP or software mode?
4. Or we can just flash directly from the batch file?

I tried to flash on my LG Optimus LTE2 yesterday and was able to see supersu in my phone. So I opened some apps that require root, the first app worked, but when I tried the 2nd app, it hung and causes the phone no response. That prompted me to reboot and once rebooted, there was no phone connection and after checking found out that my IMEI was unknown. This caused me to panic and to my relief after reflashing my stock ROM able get the phone working again.

PS, I forgot to mention I tried flashing using Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

---------- Post added at 02:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:54 PM ----------

Working on LG Optimus LTE II device flawlessly. Thanks!

Can you provide the steps?

My tablet is NEC LifeTouch L with ICS. I'm tired to death searching for a way to root it :crying: . Do you believe this script can do it? No danger if I try this script?

Toshiba at200 cpu OMAP4430

I've seen how to root but the maximum I can do is root as rw access with this command
mount-o remount, rw-t ext4 mmcblk0p8 /

Giving me access to files

default.prop
init.goldfish.rc
init.omap4blazeboard.rc
init.omap4blazeboard.usb.rc
init.rc

The command cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name

179 0 31162368 mmcblk0
179 1 128 mmcblk0p1
179 2 2048 mmcblk0p2
179 3 8192 mmcblk0p3
179 4 8192 mmcblk0p4
179 5 16384 mmcblk0p5
179 6 5120 mmcblk0p6
179 7 1048576 mmcblk0p7
259 0 1048576 mmcblk0p8
259 1 128 mmcblk0p9
259 2 29024895 mmcblk0p10
179 16 2048 mmcblk0boot1
179 8 2048 mmcblk0boot0

The partition / system to use the command
mount -o remount, rw-t ext4 / dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.1/by-name/system / system gives error mount: Operation not permitted

I think the system partition is encrypted by this command in init.rc which encrypts the partition system

I'm trying to root toshiba tablet and the AT200 with ics 4.0.3. I have not seen much of android and ingles

    Hi,

i made a small script which is able to root ICS/JB phones. It uses a remount timing issue in Androids "adb restore" service.
So normally it should work on nearly all ICS/JB devices, for some it won't but the idea may work in a slightly modded version :)

There is a case for Xperia T and Xperia S,P etc. phones, this phones run ICS but don't have android's native restore with adb, Sony has added a own custom "Backup&Restore" app, the script handles this cases too, just choose the correct option!

New 2014 root method, Z1s, Z2 Tablet etc. thanks to jcase for the exploit (http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=53407127&postcount=1004)and xsacha the z2tablet implementation (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2781109). donate to them please !
For Z2 Tablet be sure to be on a firmware < .402, else it will not work!
Ubuntu users please edit the runme.sh to use the system inbuilt adb command.

I removed the PWN binary from jcase method on request, to get the newest working binary please download it here: Click and then copy it to "z2root" folder of my tool!

Not working on a Stock Xperia S... doesnt ask to restore... just reboots... and fails to chmod

It works here, have you started the restore app ? On Xperia S you have to start the "Backup&Restore" app from menu and select the backup to restore manually.

    The RunMe.bat failed frequently.

so Ive searched the adb backup format and found the following link

    http://nelenkov.blogspot.kr/2012/06/unpacking-android-backups.html

It says the adb backup is a almost normal tarball.
and Ive found the following method.

    Code:
    $ dd if=fakebackup.ab bs=1 skip=24 | openssl zlib -d >fakebackup.tar
    extract it using

    • check /data/local.prop correctly
    • does not iterate forever.
    • does not install busybox
    • both win32 and Linux supported by same script. (the win32 port of busybox is used made by pclouds https://github.com/pclouds/busybox-w32 )

    Changes
    * update rooting.sh script
    * fakebackup-sorted.ab added for experiment (files are sorted using the pax and some shell script)
    * remove needless symlink tries.
