Instead of going through all this trouble, Simply get a bigger sized SDCard and Data2SD Script with EXT-2 Partition on SDCard and you're good to go. This seems more trouble than it is worth and Frankly, my PC Security deletes this file as soon as it is downloaded. If you still use a Nexus One, this is not worth the risk nor the time for gaining 50mb of Space.

[SOLVED] BlackRose component is missing/corrupted!

The download link in the first post named Blackrose 120421 yields a defective version that always utters the error message, "BlackRose component is missing/corrupted!"

Solved: The cause was an overeager antivirus program, which quarantined zergRush without telling me. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi all. I'm having trouble accessing my phone over fastboot.
I have Blackrose installed from a while back with 420/8/8 partitioned. The problem is when I go into fastboot and connect it over USB, the phone will connect (displays "FASTBOOT USB") and then Windows 8 will come up with an unrecognised device message after a while. I tried installing the fastboot drivers and tried to see if using a USB 2.0 port would fix it, but no luck. Also tried using an older laptop, but my phone kept switching between "FASTBOOT" and "FASTBOOT USB" on the display.
I'm out of ideas. Could anyone help me here?

I often had problems when Windows automatically installed the wrong driver. I later learned how to solve these problems by manually selecting the correct driver.

I occasionally see instructions on how to do this somewhere on the Web. Sorry for not having a good link.

It could, of course, be something else.

Managed to fix the problem by using a laptop with Windows 7 on it! Guess fastboot drivers don't work too well on Windows 8/10 as I tried with some other computers with those.

Now to figure out if I could change blackrose partitons using the recovery (zip) instead of my computer.

you need to beware of updated usb drivers when you plug another (perhaps later) phone in too.

My later samsung drivers USB drivers caused a few problems until i realised.

I would like to ask a question regarding BlackRose.

Having dug out my Nexus One, I have rooted it and installed CyanogenMod 7 using the instructions from the CyanogenMod Wiki. The one thing getting me down is the 200MB storage for apps. I am plaaning to use Link2sd to migate this.

When I looked at the FAQ for Link2SD, it explained that S-OFF was required. No problem I thought, just download and run.

Loaded up BlackRose and it spat out an error:

"error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

From asking on another forum I decided that installing the ncurses-compat-libs for Linux is what is required.

But... How do I install it for my Linux computers? One is running Ubuntu 16.04, the other is running Arch Linux.

You were missing libs. This helps to find out which ones:
Code:
ldd BlackRose
Now you just needed to install them.

Hey,
I have tried this script on Linux: Did not connect in debug mode.
So I'm trying this with Windows 10. The first part worked after a lot of trouble, until the cellphone reboots into fastboot mode. Now here is my problem:
i.ibb.co/P4vwGff/Ausw-hlen-Black-Rose-exe-06-12-2018-21-22-36.png
Script is listening for device in Fastboot mode:
i.ibb.co/wCvcZdh/Ausw-hlen-Black-Rose-exe-06-12-2018-21-22-55.png
When the phone is recognized by Windows after reboot into fastboot mode, I get the following error. It seems there is an issue with the driver.
i.ibb.co/VLt4xqR/error.png
This is what I see in device manager:
i.ibb.co/N9H7Brw/manager.png
This is what I see when I click on the device:
i.ibb.co/PGp58Kk/could-not-be-started.png

It says there is an error and the device could not get started.
I have tried to force install the google usb driver via sdk manager, the original HTC driver and had installed the universal adb drivers before (adb.clockworkmod.com).
Still I do not get the script to connect with the device in fastboot mode.
Since I had no success, I disabled the automatic driver installation of Windows.
How can I make sure that Windows loads the correct driver and the phone is recognized by the BlackRose script?

If we can get this running, I will summarize what was needed to make it work with windows 10.

Thank you for your help

    FAQ

1.Phone is brick, dosen't turn on screen

    You have flashed unsigned RADIO
If you want unbrick your phone, The answer is JTAG or HTC Service Center(The engineer can refuse to repair your phone)

    2.Can I lock bootloader again?

To relock the bootloader, You have to achieve radio S-OFF(secu_flag=0), otherwise you would see the error [Lock Failed]

    3.How to achieve radio S-OFF?

    AT@SIMLOCK=7,0 or AT@SIMLOCK=8,0

    I disassembled radio(AMSS)
it need HTC Special SIM-CARD or SIM-EMULATOR(XTC-CLIP)

    but...
If we can disable SMI-MPU and modify only one byte to AMSS routine on SDRAM
We can achive Radio S-OFF without HTC-Special-CARD.

4.I can't update radio by using recovery.

If cache partition size less than radio image, you couldn't update radio by using recovery.
so I suggest a way to update radio

fastboot flash radio [RADIO IMAGE(e.g radio.img)]

5.I can't see my device when execute BlackRose installer

If you are using sense rom, adb device isn't worked.
    You must install htc sync.

    Supplement

    BlackRose custom command

    fastboot oem brcmd [command]

svib : Enable/Disable vibration during at boot (Output string is none. but setting will be changed.)
brec : Go to recovery mode
    pass [password]: Create encrypted password/Authentication

    Change boot logo

1.Prepare 480*800 bmp file to change
    2.nbimg.exe -F [BMP FILE] -n
    3.rename *.nb file to splash1.img
    4.fastboot flash splash1 [SPLASH1 IMG]

    Password Protection

1.fastboot oem brcmd pass [ORIGINAL PASSWORD]
    2.Note your encrypted value
    3.Input encrypted value in BREditor
    4.Apply custom BlackRose

NEVER input original password in BREditor

If you would like to unlock protection
fastboot oem brcmd pass [ORIGINAL PASSWORD]

    TIP
If lock state, oem pass command work as unlock method
Otherwise, work as create encrypted password

If you type wrong password third in a row, device is turned off

    Apply custom BlackRose
*.If you use BlackRose installer method, no need to read

    Apply

    efrant,
    Doesn't help :(

You are obviously doing something wrong.

    Follow these steps:
    1) Boot device into fastboot mode and plug into computer;
    2) Type fastboot devices to make sure your computer sees your device;
    3) Download the attachment, extract the two files and place them in the same folder as your fastboot binary;
    4) Type fastboot boot go.lol
    5) Type fastboot flash hboot hboot_blackrose.nb0
    6) Reboot into fastboot mode to make sure it installed. Done.

Note: The hboot_blackrose.nb0 attached is from an older version, so if you want a newer one, just flash it the same way...
    5
Impressive! A really interesting approach. Even though Radio S-OFF would be preferred a modified hboot that unlocks more commands than the current stock-unlocked hboot does, right?

Yes, we can do anything(except radio)
I found hidden functions during disassemble hboot
    saveprt2sd, savemem2sd, mw etc...
i temporary changed oem lock function to saveprt2sd and it worked.

    I found 0.33.2012 hboot(ENG) image
but since I use SLCD Nexus One, I couldn't flashing

    Blackrose has potential
