Do you think I need to go through the trouble of going all the way back to stock gingerbread, just to delete it.
Could I just wipe data now and then flash GingerVolt?

You can do a data wipe if you want, but if your issue is like mine was, it may not help. But always do what's easiest first, then go the hard way.

You can try, factory reset, that should still keep you rooted, with cwm recovery as well. Then you can try gingervolt. I do believe... see if one of the other guys answer you too... I don't want to steer you wrong.

Here's what I would do.
Boot into cwm
Format data
Format system
Wipe davlik and cache
Install gingervolt.
Install volted ice (thanks spc!)
Reboot
Profit

All, I've experienced this issue twice so far. I believe it's linked to the CPU profiles somehow. It didn't start happening for me until I changed from smoothass to smartass2, then back. After a reboot or 2, my CPU usage spiked to 100% and doesn't stop...after reboot, cache clearing, dalvik, etc. It's weird because no system app or process is showing as actually using the CPU...it's something invisible in the background. I'm not sure if it's another 'ghost' kernal or what, but there doesn't seem to be any way to stop it save a complete wipe...ugh!

MT, thoughts?

*edit* - Did some more troubleshooting and it seems to be related to the BT radio in my situation. When on, the CPU spikes, when off, normal performance. Hmm...

OK I'm going to flash this on my fathers rev tomorrow. I am an incredible user and avid flasher. On my phone we:
Copy zip to SD
Reboot into recovery
Wipe user data factory reset x3
Format boot
Format system
Format cache
Wipe dalvik
Install from from zip

Are the instructions similar for this can someone please list exactly what needs to be done. The phone is rooted on v6 right now with CWM.
Thanks for your support. Also any mods or tips I should know? I have been following this thread for months but you guys make it seem like we are just flashing over a stock rom??? Shouldn't a full wipe be in order to install a new rom?

Thanks again.

So I just unplugged my phone right now and it won't stop scanning media files!!! It just keeps going over and over and over again! Plus for some reason my 4G isn't working. I've restarted the phone and no luck.. I'm ready to chuck it..

What modifications have you done to it? I am seeing some of this due to Bulletproofing. If you are running Gingervolt and Blitz, you should not be seeing this issue. I would reflash Gingervolt. If this is because of the supercharger script, then I would remove the script, and run it again with different settings. I know in the OP for this, it is suggested that you run the script in the middle, and that running it on the higher end may cause some instability, even says so in the directions from Zeppelin. I tried running the rc5 script, but it was not friendly to my phone, so I had to remove it. We got a guy here trying rc6 and loves it, but we will see how he feels within the next week. But supercharging, bulletproofing is the only instance where I have seen the card scanning going nuts. If you tweaked the sd card in ROM toolbox, that may be the issue as well. But again, I haven't seen it, or heard of it as an issue yet.

Let us know what you have done to your phone, in a little more detail, and someone can help you out a little better. I have covered a couple things above, but that is without knowing what steps you have taken to try to improve your phone.

Good Luck.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but after rooting or Gingervolting, I had a heck of a time getting any wifi tethering (even the Verizon one) to work stabily. I finally found a bug report about MSS clamping that stated that "CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_TARGET_TCPMSS" is not in the kernel. I changed the MTU on my laptop to 1428 & this seems to work. Now, I am the first to admit that I don't really understand all of this alphabet soup, but did get it to work right. Took almost 2 days of searching & learning.

Thank you all for all of your hard work on this...

Sorry. I stated previously in another post that I have supercharger and kernelizer. I'll try undoing both and seeing if that works.

Well I am reflashing my buddys Revo today since he is getting horrible battery life after I flashed the other day (like 4hrs!). Not sure what the hell is going on but will see if a full wipe and reflash will help.

I had that problem as well. I was running no extra functions (kernel or optimizer scripts.) I appreciate the work MT has done but every time I try the ROM I have a completely different set of issues. I am back to stock and freezing apps which works for me.

You need to calibrate the battery. After I flash I calibrate the battery for several days in a row. I charge over night so when I get up I run the calibrate app before removing from the charger.

I've been able to reproduce a problem with Bluetooth were the stack somehow gets corrupted and uses almost 100% CPU when the radio is turned on. I can reproduce this problem by enabling the BT radio, connecting to my car, while simutaneously talking to someone and using the browser (via 4G). Basically, when doing this, the BT connection to the car breaks, then the CPU goes to 100% until the BT radio is disabled. To get out of this situation I reflash GV1.3.

Anyone else seeing this?

Just to give an update guys, I have finally begun working on zv8 last night! I was in the middle of another project but finished it up now! I will be heading to the mountains for the weekend with family but I'm sure I will get some work in there, just no internet access lol. The other project has helped me learn a bit more and I will be able to apply it here!

thx for all your work mt.

quick question, just updated to GB and rooted. now how do I get clockwork back on the revo? can I still use the revotoolkit the cubed made.... I remember reading a posting of someone running into issues doing it that way but can't seem to find it now.

Yes, use Revotoolkit to install recovery. After installing, hit the check recovery version, it should be 4.0.0.2 or something like that. Then reboot into recovery.

Hello all!!! After a long 3 months, GingerVolt 2.0 is here!!!! There were MANY changes and things that I played with to get things how I liked them. Honestly, I put in the Change Log what I remembered, and will add to it as I remember the rest lol.

It is recommended to install after a complete wipe, as some apps were updated, and some were removed. I don't want to here any complaints about things force closing, battery is being drained, etc, unless a data wipe has been done. I also do not recommend using TB, etc as it can restore bad data. That is just me, and my opinions on it. Hope you enjoy!!!

P.s.: Over the last 3 days, my battery life has been AMAZING!!! They were 16hrs, 17hrs, and 22hrs. Results may vary, but that is what I have gotten.

    OP updated with 1.3

Themes for 1.2 will work just fine on 1.3!!!
