I have a custom WM 6.5 ROM based on 23152 (based on the final stock OEM & the majority of the HD2 packages) and it works OK but the performance with IE (or Opera 9.7) is just really poor. For large pages the almost freezing behaviour is unbearable - Opera is better than IE but not much.
My partner has a Desire HD and the difference is phenomenal - both are using WiFi and when loading the same page on either there is probably a 30-second delay with the Blackstone (& Opera) when building the page (looking at www.lonelyplanet.com/uk).
I have played around with various performance settings (File System Cache size, Glyph cache, TCP maximum connections etc) but there is never any improvement.
I have seen some ROMs and they appear much faster?
