Disclaimer: I take NO responsibility if the posted files harms your tab your person or zaps you or make the dogs in the neighborhood go crazy.

Credits and special thanks : Alterbridge86 for his awesome ROM, his patience, the flashable zip and some of the modems.
RangerCaptain, Starlog, Mr.X, Valgus, See_u_then. If I forgot anyone please PM me to be mentioned.

How to use: Straightforward, Reboot your tab into recovery and install the zip from SD card. If you want to use ODIN (ugh!) extract the modem.bin file from the updates folder in the zip and flash it in the PHONE section of ODIN. Make sure repartition is UNCHECKED.

Flashing Modem on MTD firmwares (New): For the new MTD firmwares. Flashing the modem is done by extracting the modem.bin file and pushing it into /radio. Alternatively Refer to this post by cdesai: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...33&postcount=2 for flashing modems on MTD firmware builds

Requests and updates: If you need a certain modem in the list kindly post here and give me its details like baseband version and which firmware its bound to. I will try to update the list as I find the remaining modems. Alternatively if you have a modem and would like to see it here. Please PM me to create the flashable zip. Credits will be given.

I have a baseband T849UVJJB
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 overcome v2.1.6-OCUV#191
Firmware 2.2.1.
Using HumberOs rom
USA T-Mmobile.

I guess what i am looking for is better H speed.
I tried the j5 modem and it seems to have knocked me down to edge.

Which modem do you recomend other than stock?

I am assuming you are using you are using a tab with humberOS rom which is as far as my limited knowledge uses ZTKC as a base rom. Unfortunately I have no idea what mdem works best for T mobile ZTKC base firmware comes with JMF modem and works very well with it but I am not sure if it will work for you. You might want to ask your ROM dev or alterbridge 86 about that. All i can do is provide a cwm flashable modem for you.

You can test different modems till you find one that suites you best.

With T-Mobile stock is best, but you have to experiment to see what works best for your region.

Glad you like it I did read your thread as I was constructing this thread. I did test different Modems but Sadly I dont live in the US and I have no idea what retrictions, settings or bands carriers enforce over there hence I always suggest or refer such question to devs or power users who live over there and use such carriers. My Tab is an international European Unbranded tab. JMA modem gives me the best Signal Strength with my carrier, JMF is good too with slight reduction in signal strength and a slight delay on picking it up on booting the tab (yeah yeah I am perfectionist and OCD lol).

Anyway New Modems added

I have a question to ask on behalf of my coworker who recently flashed his tab but just also had a baby immediately afterwards

He purchased the tab for his parents who live in HK and wanted to know which modem would be best for that area. He has an AT&T branded tab.

Would be nice if someone could explain the differences between each modem for noobs like us.

Thanks!

Well first let me explain how modems make a difference in plain beginner friendly terms. Modems files contain the settings at which the tab or phone will operate, like the network bands at which your carrier operates, data support, 3G etc. Flashing the correct modem enables you to get all the services your operator provides and at utmost efficiency (like signal strength picking up data and 3G). As for your friend sending his tab to HK. It depends on 2 major factors what ROM did he flash and who will be the carrier over there. But in most general terms if your friend flashed an asian ROM (2.2.1 base that is). The HKC1 and JMF modems seem to work best as far as I know.

Hi Dark. Thanks for the clarification. He's on overcome 1.6.4 which is a euro rom right? Would HKC1 or JMF still work ok with that?

Thanks!
