Maybe one of these Partitions is as big as the System Partition? Othe i could not explain why it is able to restore the system after deleting files ....

No, think of /system as being imaged - no matter what you do to it, it rolls back to that image after a reboot.

Sent to you tenfar, anyone else interested you can see the dump here -> http://www.sensation-devs.com/index....tition-layout/

The interesting one seems to be p15 (radio, contains code) the others are either empty or contain ASCII strings.

Carl.

In mmcblk0p3 there definite differences between partitions from an S-OFF and an S-ON device. On line 420 it changes from hex 31 9A 8A 13 to 4E D7 B9 21 (S-OFF?)

There are also changes to the simlock hex. Can someone else check their mmcblk0p3 to see if these values match mine?

Confirmed. I have a T-Mo US s-on sensation. I do indeed have 31 9A 8A 13 (at 424)as opposed to 4E 97 B9 21 in jagaroth's dump. My simlock hex is 8A F4 4C 8A (at 824, 02 D9 FC 9A in dump).

Also, at 8400 I have 03 as opposed to 00 in the dump. Also 9400-A49F and A800-A9FF have different contents (seem repeating, with some interruptions in the pattern near the beginning).

EDIT: I also have a 03 at line 8400, 00 in the S-OFF dump.

Can any more S-OFF users dump their partitions as above. The more the merrier.
Tenfar, has anyone else emailed you their partitions yet? If so can you post the hex value for security (line 420ish in hex) and the value at line 8400.

If they match then this might be another target to hit for getting S-OFF. If this indeed has anything to do with getting S-OFF.

I tried changing the values at 424, 824 and 8400 with a hex editor and then flashing with dd. The writes to mmcblk0p3 don't stick, unfortunately...

Also, now that we have the values for S-ON and S-OFF, I wonder what values Ship S-OFF users have (anyone with Ship S-OFF want to dump?)...

Careful flashing random bytes to your phone, you could brick it. The emmc write protection needs to be disabled to push the change through. For that we need teamwin and dragonfyre13 from the EVO 3D forum to work their magic.
