SwiftKey is ok but doesn't have Swype capabilities. Once SwiftKey has Swype then it will be the best keyboard. SwiftKey still has the best prediction by far.

As much as Iove swiping and I'm reasonably quick with it I find once you get the hang of SwiftKey and it's its intelligent predictive engine I can type faster with it.
For me, even though it looks ugly and is no longer supported I find the fastest tracing keyboard to be shapewriter, dam its quick with some great shortcuts to swype faster, alternate for capitals etc.

Love the layout and design of this keyboard, but it's so inaccurate. Every couple of words is way off - as in not even close.

Yeah that's the problem. It has huge potential and will be a market leader if it improve its accuracy for both traditional tapping to type and swype accuracy but unfortunately it's not the best in either respect.
Go keyboard is another which can tap and swype to type but accuracy very average with bloated adware themes :- (
Hope Touch pal focus on accuracy improvements first vs themes, looks etc and then for sure more will use it

FlexT9, perhaps. Handwriting is not a common feature in soft keyboards but Flex has it. It's not free though.

FlexT9 is no longer available in the market it has been replaced by Swype. Settings » preferences » enable handwriting.

News to me. I got it when it was free for a day on Amazon. Still works too.

I tried it and SlideIT recently but keep coming back to TouchPal but even that's just a stopgap until I get my USB On The Go cable. I have a mini keyboard, iMac style, just waiting to be my phone's keyboard. (Don't laugh, it was the cheapest Newegg had, $15 shipped.)
