How to use odin:
  1. Install kies and reboot
  2. Plug-in phone via usb cable
  3. Kill all kies process
  4. Launch Odin
  5. Click ops box and select Callisto.ops

How to root official gingerbread:

You need kies, odin and callisto.ops.
1. Follow odin use instruction [Steps from 2-5]
2. Select PDA and chose patch.
3. Flash
4. Extract and run Superoneclickroot. If superoneclick looks is dead/hang, launch another session with gingerbreak, but don`t close first.

I recommend installing busybox.
If you have problems with wifi after rooting try flash this file:

Question physical keyboard azerty not working with gingerbread
hi, WillingMagic. do you have any idea how to fix the physical keyboard to work with the "I5510XWKP5_I5510NEEKP1_I5510XXKPF_HOME.tar.md 5" firmware?
before this, copying the original folders "keylayout" and "keychars" into "system/usr" used to work, but it won't work anymore...

don't copy all.. just rename your former callisto_kepad3.kcm.bin to sec_keypad.kcm.bin and paste it to /keychar folder. don't forget to set permission & reboot your device. it works for me

Not working for me.

I've replace the file with my froyo backup and nothing have change...

well, actually I use qwerty not azerty.. I found this one file enough to fix some weird character on mine
if you have former froyo files, maybe you can try to copying all file to /keychar & /keylayout with renaming the callisto_ file with sec_
in my case the froyo qwerty.kl will make the alt function act like second alpha keyboard layout. maybe your azerty.kl will different

Display driver in official gingerbread seems to be broken like mentioned in old thread - after having the phone sit idle for a yet undetermined time, the display would get all scrambled and colors get messed up.

Does android put the display driver in some kind of "deep sleep" after a while? Looks like you will get no issues if you wake the phone within a shorter period of time.

I'll see whether or not the display messes up if I disable display sleep under developer menu.


EDIT: makes me wonder whether it's possible to reset frame buffer device without having to reboot the phone. Any guidelines?

Here's what I figured:
1) Takes a few minutes of display sleep to mess up the hardware
2) Every other wake results in normal screen (let display sleep, wait a while, wake the phone, get garbled screen, let display sleep, wait a while, wake the phone with normal screen. the cycle repeats)

More
GB updated my Market to 3.1.5 and now I can't install many of applications as Market does not show them or prevent from installing because it is incompatible with my phone. Any hint how to downgrade or make it working again ?
