wait. we need to s-off? oh god..

You know, you could TRY flashing with S-ON. I don't know if the radio will flash, since I've never flashed a radio with S-ON. Try it.. what's the worst that can happen ? It'll error out ? :)

Or better yet, search around the forum and see if anybody else flashed a custom ICS rom WITHOUT s-off first. Hint.. look in mike's ROM and see if anybody was able to flash his firmware package without s-off.

Crap... I started downloading your stock rom before I read the thread  I wanted a themed rom (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

btw, anyway you can include the mod to turn off the leds on the soft buttons by default...:D

I fail to see why people are making a big deal about getting s-off  Everything is automated aside from the wire trick which gives you ample time to do... When I read this ROM needed s-off I did it without hesitation. :D

Only speaking from a successful update, but there are a few horror stories that are swaying people from S-OFF.

Just make sure
a) phone has plenty of battery in case you don't do the wire trick correctly the first few times.
b) as the instructions say -- be sure to turn off HTC Sync.
c) the windows USB plug/unplug system sound is very helpful for 1.75 sec wire trick timing!

I'm confused, can I flash energy themed right over the old one with s-on?

Or are both soff?

Flashing over didn't work
Wipe then flash didn't work stuck at splash for both.

Btw if someone made a brighter splash that would be great

Well I decided to stay up and hammer out the themed version. It's 98% done. I'll do the rest of the 2% tomorrow or during the weekend. I will upload what I have so far tonight. But at least we have tweaks in it and extended quicksettings! yay :)
do you know how to do the "remove recent apps from notification panel" tweak? that is a HUGE annoyance, and if you used an Aroma installer you could offer both removed and kept-in versions... it would totally rock either way as I haven't seen anyone do it for ANY of the amaze roms yet, that was one of my favorite mods on the G2/DZ!!!

You could flash this Rom with S-ON, just apply the ICS leak through H-boot

If you didn't get S-OFF and did this... no worrys they confirmed that you could still get S OFF with the new ics radio/hboot

Glad to see energy almost done :D

I have a tutorial up in the general section on how to flash the leak with S ON

Ah, the good old days of the Aroma installer. I loved that feature from the Desire ROMS.

Can you add the home row bleeding mod to the final theme?

I new you would come thru with a custom ROM super fast. I didn't even setup the stock ICS in anticipation! Thanks again.

Who cares about that ? You can just use the built in tweaks application to remove it/install it on the fly !

Firmware

Hi NRGZ,

Is it necessary to flash the firmware if I'm already on the ICS ROM? In other words, does it contain just the radio or more ROM specific stuff?

Thanks.

No, if you flashed the ICS leak, you already have those.

The what..... ? lol Never heard of that.

It's an installer that is integrated in the zip so that when you flash the Rom, you get to custumize how the rom will be. Also nrg will the themed version have Dsp manager and CRT?

No.. you do not. Just the ROM is fine.

Actually you do not. GB ROMs (such as mine in this thread) work just fine with the ICS radio and ICS's updated partitions. Tested it out myself, by restoring a backup of my GB setup (system/data/boot) and it works great :)

Thanks Sean and NRG. I'm glad GB will work with the new radio and partitions! Okay....here we go...................

  • Stock looking ICS ROM released (similar to mike's android revolution.. but tweaked by me)
  • Odexed
  • Make sure to flash the PH85IMG.ZIP firmware package in the bootloader, PRIOR to flashing the main ROM in recovery.
So is this just the stock rom after being odexed? If you did tweaks, which ones.. I've done quite a bit of tweaking to my installed leak and want to make sure that I wouldn't just be undoing those tweaks..

Are you going to start a new ICS thread yet NRG? This is going to get pretty confusing to noobs to Energy if you don't with GB and ICS combined in this one! lol

DSP probably... CRT never. ICS doesn't support it :) I know.. I miss it too.

Tweaks is the name of the app actually.

I might start a new thread.. might not be a bad idea after all.

Not to derail, NRG do you have any advice/guidance as how you got wifi working? I'm having trouble trying to troubleshoot my rom, it works with the exception of 1. root and 2. wifi- it is stuck on trying to obtain ip address; the latter seems like a kernel problem.

Thanks

Well to start... did you flash the firmware package to your phone ? Two.. how did you root it ? Did you add the su binary in /xbin and link it to /bin ? Added SuperUser.apk ? Did you use dsixda's kitchen for it ?

Welcome to the "Energy" ROM collection thread !

This development thread is for my "Energy" custom firmware series for the HTC Amaze !

I build my ROMs with four main goals.

    • Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
    • Speed !!!
    • Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
    • Stability through private beta testing before public release
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.

This is for the GB ROM:

    • Stock or themed ROMs available
    • Rosie 5x5 Layout (tweakable)
    • CRT Animation + overscroll (tweakable)
    • Enabled GPU UI rendering
    • Blue highlights instead of green
    • Deodexed, zipaligned, tweaked
    • Extra Quick Settings
    • Improved SD card read ahead
    • Busybox + runparts, TitaniumBackup
    • Zipaligned
    • A few HTC Apps removed, like HTC Navigation and some widgets
    • A lot of junk removed
    • Stock HTC Kernel
    • Screenshot by pressing Power and Home
    • Advanced Power Menu
    • Updated hosts file for ad removal
    • A lot more stuff... check the changelog below
    • Fast... Stable.. and GREAT battery life with the stock HTC kernel

You can stay up to date on the status of my ROM development by "following" me on Twitter.

    How to Flash this ROM:

    - Root your device
    - Install a custom recovery
