As far as init.d, its working for me, check your permissions.
I'm kind of embarrassed that I didn't do this as part of my troubleshooting lol. Somehow, the init.d scripts were no longer permissioned for "execute". I changed all the permissions to 777 and they seem to have run on a reboot .
