Hi

I installed a ROM a while back that was not an Acer stock ROM but now wish to go back to the current stock ACER Rom so that it will do an OTA Update when ICS is released (whenever that is!).

Anyway I looked at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1276227

(I can't reply in it - and have to ask here).

Will that thread and instructions in Post 1 work to get me back to an ACER Rom that will be recognized and trigger an OTA update or is there an easier way.

I didn't backup anything when I did the original non-stock installation.

some options...
option 1 : Read This -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1420382
A)If you don't ROOT it, It MIGHT OTA Update and (overwrite CWM Recovery)
B)if you run "acer recovery installer" app, you could get older Stock Recovery back (if CWM Recovery won't work)

option 2 :
Stock Untouched HC v3.2 ROM (Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2) -> http://vache-android.com/files/Acer_...1_COM_GEN2.zip
*** Warning : You will Loose BOOTloader ability (Recovery mod will not work anymore)
-Upate OTA on Tab to HC v3.2.1 (Acer_A500_7.014.01_COM_GEN2) 8MB Update download -> Reboot
-Upate OTA on Tab to HC v3.2.1 (Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2) 8MB Update download -> Reboot
-I 100% Know for fact, you will be able to OTA Update (cus it has STOCK RECOVERY)

option 3 iNFO : go back to HC v3.1 (Acer_A500_4.010.13_COM_GEN2)
-Older version, but able to Keep 100% stock (if not ROOTED)
-This is the last HC v3.1 before HC v3.2 (v3.2 Kills Bootloader or Locks your RECOVERY)
-OTA Updates would be :
#1 v3.2 (Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2) 357MB
#2 v3.2.1(Acer_A500_7.014.01_COM_GEN2) 8MB
#3 v3.2.1(Acer_A500_7.014.02_COM_GEN2) 8MB

Root HCv3.1 + CWM Recovery
-"Iconiaroot.apk" will ROOT on HC Versions up to v3.1 (NOT v3.2)
-once Rooted, you can use "Acer Recovery Installer 2.54.apk" to install CWM Recovery v1.34
-in CWM Recovery, you can Update "CWM Recovery v1.6v2.zip" file.

*** BACKUP Current ROM, CLEAN Wipe+Format, Installing ROM :
Reboot into CWM Recovery MOD : [Volume Down] + [POWER] long press.
(A) Backup and Restore -> Full Backup ->
(B) Wipe Menu -> Wipe... Cache, data (factory reset), dalvik-cache, battery stats
(C) Mounts and Storage Menu -> Format... System, data, cache, flexrom
(D) Install from Zip File -> Choose Zip File from SD Card -> {any ROM.zip, Superuser.zip, etc}
(E) Reboot System.

*** GEN2 is for USA models, I wouldn't try these methods if you have _GEN1 or another version

In Post #1, Method #2 Works (most peps prefer method #2)
It will get you to a non stable HC v3.0.1 ROM.
From there you can Install a better ROM after some steps.

I had to return to stock to exchange mine for a hardware issue, the easiest way is if you made a backup (as you should have) before you flashed the custom rom, just boot into CWM recovery. Restore your backup, then reboot, use acer recovery installer to install stock recovery image. Done!

So...those mentioned, specifically Option #2 - is that flashed through CWM?
