Just got new eMMC chip from "parts4repair" , removed dead one M4G2DE, soldered new Sandisk SDIN5C2-8G - and phone booted straight away !
So I'm back on the road after ~35$ repair

I was very surprised that eMMC chip is already programmed - just ready to solder. Phone booted straight away after soldering . Unbranded, old hboot, sense 2.1 , new IMEI ...

These Chinese guys are incredible. Just took a look at the part4repair - the chip is in the Desire S section - that explains the software. Great news actually. Now I only need a technician to make the exchange if something happens to my device!

another interesting thing is that this eMMC chip is 8G

Detected an Initialized FLASH1 Chip, ID: 0x0045/0x0000 (SEM08G, 0x0001D9800000 Bytes = 7.40 GB)

Could it be worth attempting to partition the chip in order to get additional internal ? Is this even possible?

maybe there is space for aditional partition, but then we need to mount it somewhere

There are guides in the Desire subforums. They need this because of the lack of space. But the principle is the same I think...
