Yes, you need ADB driver.

If you have PCC installed in your computer, then no need manual install ADB driver.
If you just install flashtool, you can find ADB driver under C:\Flashtool\drivers folder. During Flashtool drivers installation, check "Sony Ericsson Xperia arc,...drivers". It will install ADB driver.

ALSO DONT WIPE DATA IN ANY FLASHING (UNCHECK WIPE DATA AND CACHE BEFORE FLASHING KERNEL)

A. If you already have a full ftf (full ics 4.0.4 firmware) otherwihumanse you can download from LINKS or just enter to B part

Check my old thread for tutorial

Old thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...to_threadtools

Links:
Full FTF 4.0.4 (firmware) :http://xperia.myftp.biz/Xperia_Pro_ICS_4.0.4/
NEO 4.0.3 kernel here :http://www.mediafire.com/?gwe739kn5mcx56t
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. If you have not downloaded a full android 4.0.4 for xperia pro proceed following

1. Downloads: a) this ftf (Ready to Root - ie build in 4.0.3 kernel )
http://www.filefactory.com/file/2dzv...dy_to_root.rar - thanks to overlo4d

b) Doomlord root toolkit - download from the attachments of this thread

c) 4.0.4 kernel http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?8up94h4v5raozcw
2. Flash the ftf (a) using flashtool
(Dont worry if you get black screen, just pull out the battery, put it back and switch on, wait for leds to light up ,at that exact point do following)

3. Root your phone by just executing the exe file in the toolkit (b)

4. Now just flash (c) ftf using flashtool

you have a rooted pro.

PRECAUTIONS:
1.Dont forget to close flashtool after flashing the first FTF (a)
2.Also close PC companion too

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the toolkit in the link

The toolkit provided have a 1.15 busybox ver , which is very old (have permission setting problems and other problems) , so please download newer busybox (using jrummy's busybox downloader available in playstore) ,also change the su file in the toolkit/files/ folder by the su file I have given in files.rar

Thanks to overlo4d and others who provided the ftf and other tools

Hi pc-ox,just saw yr reply here forwarded to ricardocardoso.Well,to tell you the truth I am also facing the same prob since a couple of weeks now.You say once PCC is installed then there is no need for installing SDK/ADB Drivers as this programs are included in the flashtool itself.Am I right thus far.But in Doomlords root tool kit are this progs also included?Just out of curiosity.
I have downloaded all the necessary :
1)PCCompanion
2)4.1.A.0.562 kernel
(_lt18i_4.1.B.0.431downgrade ftf)
3)Flashtool(which by the way could not locate after downloading and running on pc.It shows on downloads but scrolling thru the files where it is actually at I couldn't find it )
4)DooMLoRDs root tool kit
5)4.1.B.0.587 kernel
Had also download SDK/ADB drivers which I am going to uninstall later.
That's about the size of it.Now to look for the flashtool file.Any ideas where to look.Am using ASUS windows7.

PCCompanion is optional. You can skip it if you not going to use the PCC features. DooMLoRD rooting toolkit itself not included ADB driver.

The procedures I used to root my xperia arc (LT15i):-
1) Install Flashtool. Flashtool file can get from:-
http://androxyde.github.com/

2) After install Flashtool, install ADB driver from Flashtool\drivers folder (file name: Flashtool-drivers). Make sure check the component "Sony Ericsson Xperia arc,...drivers" during Flashtool driver installation.

3) (Optional) Flash 4.1.B.0.587 firmware using Flashtool. (This step is optional if your phone already in 4.1.B.0.587 firmware. Due to I used custom ROM, I need flash stock firmware).
(LT15i 4.1.B.0.587 Generic Global World) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1836071
(LT18i 4.1.B.0.587) http://hotfile.com/dl/167361348/4334...16%29.ftf.html

4) Flash 4.1.B.0.431 kernel using Flashtool.
https://www.box.com/s/ivau06ox4wu4p4p8y3ch

5) Root the phone with DooMLoRD rooting toolkit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1601038

6) Flash back 4.1.B.0.587 kernel using Flashtool.
Arc kernel only: https://www.box.com/s/pjgm3evqsc29xieoatdp
Arc S kernel only: https://www.box.com/s/ya3kd7yvdp6d5pc6pp9c

7) Done. your phone should be rooted now.

Thanks to OverLo4d, DooMLoRD and other related members for these great guides.

Hi,

I used the following method several times with no problems:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...17&postcount=2

It's a lot easier than the other methods posted here.

1. download the the lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_kernel_down_upgrade file if you haven't already from http://www.mediafire.com/?twn09p8ekug46f7
(It is the LT18i kernel but you can use it)

2. extract the file, you will have two files called 1_lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_kernelDowngrade.ftf and 2_lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_kernelUpgrade

3. open flashtool (do not click on the flash mode)

4. drag and drop the 1_lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_kernelDowngrade.ftf into flashtools main window and the flash mode window will automatically open with the ftf

5. check the No Final Verification box and click on OK

6. Flashtool will ask you to turn off your device, hold the back button and connect the phone so do that anc click OK

7. it will start flashing the downgrade kernel..Once it is done disconnect the phone from the computer and CLOSE FLASHTOOL (Closing flashtool is very important)

8. Start your phone, check USB debugging and Unknown sources and root using DoomLord's Tool like you did before.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1601038

9. After you have finished rooting disconnect the phone...close the command prompt and turn off your phone.

10. You said you already have the lt15i_4.1.B.0.587_kernel_only .ftf.... if not download it from http://minus.com/l2nHaaZknNLkx

11. Open flashtool, drag and drop the lt15i_4.1.B.0.587_kernel_only.ftf into flashtools main window.

12. repeat the process from step 5, 6 and 7.

13. Thats it...you are on a rooted 4.1.B.0.587

i just did the steps for the arc s,and done
4.1.B.0.587!
