Our phone doesn't support MTP. We use Mass Storage.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the noob questions but when you say "Our phone doesn't support MTP", do I take this to mean that the EVO 3D cannot support MTP because of some hardware limitation, or that the ROM is not set up for MTP and supports Mass Storage mode instead as that is what most folks use. I understood JellyBean to support MTP, yet every JB ROM I try cannot seem to do this. This would be useful to me. Is there some different Kernel I could use to support this somehow? Thanks for the work.

I believe that MTP is only for devices with internal storage (no sd)

You might be correct but I know that this works on the Galaxy S4 and it has an SD card slot so I am not sure how accurate this is. Not to hi-jack here but does anyone know of any EVO 3D CDMA ROMs which support MTP? Would really like to get this working. Thanks.

I don't have an S4, but a guy I work with does and on it, when he connects it to his PC, it connects as an MTP device, and he can then transfer files between his PC and both internal and the SD card installed in the phone via MTP. Is there someway to support this same functionality with this ROM? The options are there in the settings, but it just does not do anything. Just trying to see if anyone knows if this does not work because of the hardware on the EVO 3D or if is just not implemented in the ROM. Thanks and sorry for all the noise here.

Its fine. Its just a question.

Like i said: MTP is for phones with internal storage. Those phones can have sdcards aswell, but in order to have MTP, the device had to have some type of internal storage.

Doesn't the EVO 3D have internal storage? Is the internal storage of the 3D different than that of the newer phones out today? Maybe its using ROM where as newer phones have both ROM and some additional internal storage, which is allowing for the MTP support? I am not actually sure how they differ.

Yes. The 3D has (I think) 4gb of ROM (where apps and the system resides).

As an example, lets use the HTC Rezound. The Rezound has 16gb of ROM, 4gb is usually reserved for the system and apps. The rest is used like an sdcard. Pictures and video and stuff can go there. And in addition, the Rezound can hold an external sdcard. So MTP allows you to access the internal and external sdcards.

So the EVO just has does not have the ROM divided in such a way that there is extra area which can be used as an SD card. Thats required to get MTP to work with this ROM? Is this right? Its just one big system storage pool where you can install apps in the extra space in that pool/partition. But its not presented to the OS as an SD card. Does this mean that MTP will never work with this device even with a custom ROM? If so I will move on. Been a great phone. Thanks for the help here everyone.

Quick question, ever since I started this rom my wimax has not been usable. It searches and finds a connection, but then won't connect and restarts the process, any ideas as to why? I am on ting btw.

I don't have an answer for you, just that I had the same issue (and it would drain my battery in the process of looking for Wimax service). Because of that I had no reason not to upgrade to the newer 4.3 rom (which doesn't even support Wimax) and it works fine.

Sprint's Wimax service in my area is so spotty I'm not missing much, but your service might be better so good luck.

I actually had some random reboot issues and was not able to switch from the front facing camera to the back without the phone crashing. I'm just wondering if this rom doesn't like ting. But I can definitely live without wimax.

I'm unable to connect to wireless N mode in the 2.4ghz range...can't figure out why, the ev03d should be able, shouldnt it?

Also, the rom will not work with Hboot 1.50...The only bootloader I can use to get it to work is 1.40

Ah crap I flashed back to 1.40 after trying 1.50, now I'm still getting constant CyanogenMod loading screen

Latest VM build etc

I got the Jun 21, 2013 one from the first post for VM, and it's coming up Sprint so somehow both of those links that still exist are Sprint roms which surprisingly worked until the following day before the phone and mms stopped. I'm on hboot 1.50 and was able to install it fine though. I'm not sure if i can just change the radio to make it a VM rom.

I just rolled back to the March 23, 2013 VM rom since it was the last I could find. So far so good even though the updated bluetooth drivers in the later builds actually had some nice upgrades I could see in the truck.

Does anybody have a mirror of the June 21 VM rom (the one there is named correctly but appears to really be a Sprint rom)? I'm determined to find a good stable 4.1+ rom for the evo 3d.

Thanks,
Tony

Since some people think that my OP about bootloaders is too vague I'm going to implement a bootloader assert upon installation. If you aren't on a supported HBOOT then the installation will cancel. With this check in place I shouldn't see any more posts about ambiguity in supported HBOOT's. If the ROM installs then you're good, if not change your bootloader. Simple.
