I introduce to you Ubuntu Touch for Evo LTE

booted in 10 seconds for me.enjoy

REDOWNLOAD THE NEW ZIP I UPLOADED A NEW ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS

Preinstall:

this is the preinstall i used in the AIO zip if you want to do it the old way thats fine with me but you need this file

Steps that you took to flash
Example:
Code:
 1 wiped
2 flashed jewel.zip
3 flashed preinstall.zip
4 rebooted.
Post your full phones specs
Code:
 Hboot:
Recovery:
Hardware:
Firmware version
Radio version
get the latest of both zips and do a log cat of your Ubuntu touch booting up so I can compare it to the others..

Its real simple:

Hopefully you have android SDK or Adb
Open command prompt or terminal type:
Code:
Adb logcat
let it run until Ubuntu boots up
Post the out put on pastebin.com
And send it to me please or post the link in this thread.

INSTALLATION!

Do a nandroid backup!
Mount /data and /system make sure they are empty
Wipe
Flash the device specific base Jewel Specific OTA in recovery
Flash the "generic" quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip in recovery. Get yourself a coffee 'cause this'll take a while.
Reboot and Wait.

Unplug USB if it's plugged
Reboot. to fastboot

Would the usb have to be connected inorder to flash the recovery? Does the ota install the stock recovery which is y u tell us to reflash the recovery? Or is this a special recovery that is designed to work with ubuntu?

its a special recovery swap partition from what I read.
its just a black screen its so you can adb to the phone and start Ubuntu Touch.
i will be doing this later and if it works ill be posting pics and maybe a video.

Probably not lol I think most people are just scared to try it out. I want to try it but my pc is down I might just give it a go later on tonight with my roommates laptop

i am trying but cannot use the provided recovery i do the fastboot flash recovery and it flashes well but its not usable it just a blank screen and i need to do the volume down and power to reboot in fastboot

ok im probably crasy doing this but i downgraded my recovery to TWRP 2.3.1.0 and flashed the cm10.1 then the preview zip and waiting now..

Edit i am stuck at htc quietly brilliant and the red warning thingy
