Does this guide still work after the recent update? (still on 4.2.1)

Sent from my R800i using xda-developers app.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I hope it does, but we'll have to wait.

Updated the guide with the new TWRP 2.5.0.0

Please read the following warning:

Note: this guide was updated with the new 2.5.0.0 TWRP. For this to work properly, you will need to use the last 10.6.1.15.3 version of the tablet. If you are already on a previous 4.2.1 version, please update to the new one using this same guide. If you flash this recovery with the older version, you will end up with a double screen!

Remember to always make your backups. I did a fresh install when updating. I didn't tried to install any custom ROMs until now, but I'll keep you posted.

Don't forget to thank!

Just the regular TWRP 2.5.0.0 will work? No special version needed?

The 2.5.0.0-4.2 version on the official website. Or you can use the one that is in the guide. I recomend that since on the website you can just mistakenly install the jb one and brick your tablet.

i followed your guide to update to firmware 10.6.1.15.3 from 10.6.1.8 and install twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob. I then installed surdu_petru's rooted OC kernal rom, and all is working great

Just a heads up, in the guide it still says "Download this file and unpack it (it contains fastboot and a patched version of TWRP 2.4.4.0)". I wasn't sure if the link was for 2.5.0.0 -4.2 since it said that, so i just downloaded it from twrp's website.

Thank you for this guide, I am sure it has helped many.

I just upgraded to the latest 10.6.1.15.3, but can´t recover my root with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. It never failed before. Anyone with the same problem?
My tablet is not unlocked, but I used to have it rooted for looong time. The first time I rooted it, was using the Asus Backup Tool bug with SparkyRoot.

Any advices on how to recover my root now?
Thanks a lot!

Just use the rooting method for locked bootloaders on this thread. It will work for you
