My tablet is not unlocked, but I used to have it rooted for looong time. The first time I rooted it, was using the Asus Backup Tool bug with SparkyRoot.

Any advices on how to recover my root now?
Thanks a lot!

Just use the rooting method for locked bootloaders on this thread. It will work for you

works fine!
Just to let you know your post worked fine to root my ASUS TF300T...
Initially, it was under JB 10.6.1.8 (automatic update from ASUS).

After following your directions with the fastboot method I now have a rooted JB 4.2.

Note; zero previous experience with Android, although I know my way around with linux...

again, many thanks!

Also a big thank you from me. 've Flashed 4.2.1 (10.6.1.15.3) today via fastboot. Then the 4.2 - TWRP 2.5.0.0 and after that flashed SuperSU zip. Everything went wonderfully.

So I'm on 4.1.1, I've been reading post after post on how/what to do to get onto 4.1.2.

Lots of different stories, more good than bad, but I just want to make sure I've the right order of which file to flash first.

This is what I'm on..

So should I flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 first, then stock Asus firmware,(WW for me) then factory reset-wipe cache/dalvik, then flash custom ROM, I'm thinking CROMI, the latest.

With flashing my tab its so much different than my phone, I just want to be 100% that I've everything correct, I don't want to f my tab up.

Thanks for any info, really appreciated.

Follow the guide from the beginning to the end, is it that so hard? :/

Update your tablet using fastboot method (I recommend that one to you since you seem to be confused about recoveries, this way you won't need one), install the recovery, and then the custom rom..

I agree, this is the best (and only) way that worked for me.

So far everything is going good, flashed TWRP, then 4.1.2, all booted up.

Now I`m trying to get root back by flashing the SU.ZIP, so I got to step 2 in the rooting process and I got the Android on his back with a red triangle.

Am I missing something?

Edit: Do I need to hit it straight away..

Edit: So I tried flashing TWRP again, but I`ve the double screen now, lol. should I just go ahead and flash CROMi?
If I wipe everything before flashing CROMi, will that get rid of the double screen?

Edit: I flashed the ww stock firmware ( WW_V10.6.1.8 ) as there was`nt a 10.6.1.15.3 for ww, am I stuck now?
