However if the game does physics, A.I. computations, sound effects and who know what else, then the CPU will be loaded.

It also depends how threaded the game is. I don't think that games run more than 1 "heavy" thread, so in optimal conditions you'd only have a single A15 up while having the rest of the pairs staying on the A7 cores.

There is no definitive answer to your question. Just fire up CPU-Spy, reset the frequency states and go play a game and see the result. If you're on an A9 core phone then theoretically if you exceed the 1000MHz state, then that would be over the capacity of what the A7's could deliver and it would switch over to the A15.

You think it's possible to shut down the A15 cores and just use the A7 cores? (For example, in STweak in the future)

Thanks for the explanation

This is what I understood from andrei.. they dont switch from one a7 qyad group to another.. each core can be switched on individually..
If u play fifa, probably it might use all the a7 cores and maybe switch one or two a15s.. or sometimes just two a7s and two a15s depending on the threading of the game..

Awesome, battery life should be really good on the S4 even while gaming!

Samsung Exynos Hi, Ikmal. The International (non-U.S.) variant of the Samsung Galaxy S IV will carry the Exynos 5 Octa processor.

This should be stickied.

This is excellent information, thanks.

The real conflict for most people here will be the sacrifice of Octa VS LTE.

I remember a lot of the rumors stating that Exynos 5 Octa does indeed have LTE, although perhaps:

1) It only supports european/asian bands
2) Samsung never has enough time to make an octa version with North American LTE bands, and decided to roll out a snapdragon model first

I am seriously hoping it will be another Nexus 4 moment for Canada (Secret AWS LTE support), but I feel that is just me being overly optimistic.

I personally think that Octa + 544MP will have a serious advantage in terms of power and battery life over the S600 + Adreno 320, enough to make it worth dropping LTE over.... but only time will tell.

I also have full faith that some of the kernel wizards here at XDA will unlock the full 8-core potential of this beast (although I don't know why you would want it... bye bye battery life), so watching development should be fun.
