i got the rom to boot in ss slot 1 as well but anyone know how to get service for cdma? because there is no service what so ever and i have no problems what so ever with any of the gingerbread roms on cdma? is there something specific that needs to be done? or like any files or numbers i need to change? i also have a droid incredible 2 and to get a gsm rom to work on cdma all i had to do was change up a few numbers and files? but the framework is different and my droid incredible 2 is s-off so i can tweak it more than that of the droid 3 with the locked bootloader. any help would be appreciated.

Request for the solana versions of the ROM

Posted 4.4 version of avatar, because of some known defects removed change log and links.

Thanks,

I have been trying to locate the 3.x versions for solana and I have not been successful for the past few days. Are they lost forever? In the avatarrom.com website, I see no entries for solana devices.

Looks like all links to this ROM are dead, host domain is down, etc. Vaporware.

Sorry man. I did look around for you a bit, but I don't have any copies left. I did Google around the name of the zip (avatar-2.5b-439-20130330-solana_ota_signed.zip). Maybe you'll have better luck looking. You could try variations of the file name with appropriate dates for nightlys or pushes.

I would try the Steeldroid ICS ROM. That thing worked as my daily driver for a long time.

Appreciate the thoroughness and reply -- I did the same (exhaustive Google). I just went with JB 4.2.2 from Cyanogenmod instead.

I'm just poking around with the DROID 3 again for nostalgia. My daily device is my Galaxy Note 3 still, but I had done plenty of dev for the DROID 3 in its day and decided to play with it today. :)

Ah good deal man. I was feeling some empathy for you after going through an exhaustive search and stuff myself over the last two days.

Yeah, it was good phone. With the amount that we depend on them, I'm surprised it lasted me about two years. Still got it tucked away for nostalgia along with my OG Droid.

Cheers! I've got my OG Droid sitting on my desk too, with three charging docks. Also a Galaxy Nexus LTE. I won't let the wife take em ;)

Explanations and facts. Our status as of now.

Lately there has been a lot of confusion as to our approach to AvatarROM and the support scenario for all the various devices. We have had a lot of negative, and must I say, important feedback, and we have also seen a slight wane in our download numbers.

First off the bat, let us lay it out there in front of you that AvatarROM is still up and running and very much alive. There have been a few problems lately, but more about that later. We would like to ensure to our users that our development pattern is still chugging like a well oiled machinery and soon things will be right back on track.

We received a lot of flak for the last 4.3 build that we came out with, which actually had a major flaw in the lockscreen, putting devices into continuous bootloops. Our immediate solution was to advice users not to upgrade at all, and to those who had, to downgrade to the previous build. Although we ended up promising users that we will soon release a new build, unfortunately it never ended up happening. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have not been able to push out a new build to our users, nor have we released any update for all those devices still on 4.2.2. The good news though, is that we will soon have a new build up and running. We are working on it and it should see the light of day soon.

The second problem, and in a way, a more grievous one was that a lot of older builds and in some cases, all the builds for specific device models got erased from our servers, as a result of which new users were never able to download our ROM. This lead to a lot of confusion, and in some cases, agitation that we might be wrapping up, which as we cleared up, is not the problem. We were trying to tweak the back- end servers and in the process, lost a lot of those older images. By the time we could salvage them, it was too late. Currently we are in the process of tweaking the servers (really carefully) and make sure that most of those missing builds are available.

So yes, in a nutshell, we really dropped the ball this time. We will like to thank all our users who stood valiantly alongside us, even though aware of the issues. We are looking into solving all these problems and should be able to alleviate them altogether in the coming days. So please be patient, just for a few more days.

    Thanks

    CAMERA NOTES:
** I would never expect the camera to be fully functioning. I am working several avenues to get a functional camera on the Droid 3, but they're all sketchy at best. Just know that if you choose to flash custom ROMs w/ newer OS versions: You won't have a camera.
** Did I say don't expect the camera to be fixed? If it was to be fixed, trust me, you'll see me all over the boards, twitter and the social universe telling people about it.
** There are other devs now working on the kexec kernel and it's possible that they can get some basic camera functionality through kernel drivers. It's quite complicated and there are no public data sheets which describe the sensor functions in great detail for our devices.
** Don't expect the camera to be fixed
I have a question : how can you guys acutally use this rom ? ( I DO NOT SAY IT SUCKS OR SOMETHING IT IS EPIC ) but i can't get more than an hour of usage with minimum tasks , on ics by hashcode it is ok for a full day with just one refill but this rom does drains fast like a mother****er

Can someone post pictures of their battery stats after 1 day of usage ?

Please

That's a hack that made that work. Record a video. Scan a qr code. It's not a fully functional camera. I'm pretty sure that ics still uses a GB kernel, which is why it gets some functionality. Newer roms use the appropriate kernel, for which there is no camera support. That ics is the exception, so don't hold your breath waiting to see camera functionality on more roms.
