Well it doesnt matter . I think speaking about fixing null imei is useful and doesnt break XDA terms because it is a technical error .

You didnt reply about your android version

For the adb commands to write imei to work you need root ( that is why i asked)

If you have xposed ( only mm ~that is why i asked ) you can just install imei changer module # with easy to use graphical interface

Here are the commands
~ i assume you realise you need adb bridge and su running
~ open a command window in your adb installation folder

~ adb shell
~ su
~ echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_NUMBER”‘ >/dev/pttycmd1

Sometimes you need to use

~ echo AT+EGMR=1*7*IMEI_1 >/dev/pttycmd1

For dual sim

~ echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,10, “IMEI_NUMBER” ‘ >/dev/pttycmd1

*changing as opposed to FIXING your imei is not legal so don't do that . Use this information to write back your original device imei lost during root procedure or custom rom flashing

* these are generic commands and I take no responsibility for any damage resulting from running these commands
RUN AT YOUR OWN RISK

* these commands will only work on some devices

For fastboot you also need root and bootloader must be unlocked

~ adb reboot fastboot
~ fastboot oem writeimei "IMEI HERE"
~ fastboot getvar imei
( to see if it worked )

---------- Post added at 02:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:58 PM ----------

~ fastboot reboot

Hi. I don't understand so much what exactly "fastboot update" does. It installs whole rom in zip format or what? It only works with .zip roms?

I searched for the info but I didn't find it. Thanks

You didn't find it because "fastboot update" doesn't really say anything. Update what exactly?
ROMs get flashed in recovery, not fastboot/bootloader. But you could push a ROM via ADB. Recovery is how ROMs are normally flashed though.
